Well most games involve defeating one foe or the other and many of these are great to do battle against ingame.
Some even get such a cheer from the fans they get further appearances in games and movies, be it as cameos, foes, npc party members or mention (ex:Sephiroth, Gilgamesh,etc.).
However, not all get that, thus I'd like to ask you to tell us about your favorite foes.
Please feel free to post a video link or video(this only once per post, but post as many as you like) along with your description.
To start off this thread I'd like to tell you of a classic foe, lost to the shrouding mists of time, but still a fine foe to battle: Solid Arm.
This hidden boss from the game Illusion of Gaia first appeared in Soul Blazer as the very first boss where he was a pushover, but in Illusion of Gaia you can only battle him if you finish Gem the Jeweler's sidequest by collecting 50 gems scattered throughout the world.
Since his first appearance he has beefed up considerably and can easily wipe the smirk off your face, though careful players can defeat him as seen in this video:
Easy question; Ansem, from Kingdom Hearts. He's got everything; an insane quest for power, turning friends against the protagonist, a massively powerful final form, and major reappearance in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories to boot.
:) Nice selection folks, I guess I'll put in another.
today a villain everyone loves to hate, yet whom has garnered sympathy from his fans:
Jon Irenicus, the main antagonist from Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and optional secondary protagonist (via several mods) of Throne of Bhaal.
He's got it all:
A total lack of morals, manipulative skills and the intelligence to use them, enough magical power to kill at a glance, a long stewing plot for vengeance and three equally humongous portions of tenacity, ego and arrogance to be one of the all time greatest villains.
Yet one can't help but feel sorry for him, considering what was done to him after his initial crimes.
What can I say? She's a manipulative bitch. She was betrayed, and then decided to betray everyone else. Tenfold. From taking over the Zerg as Queen of the Blades, to tricking the protoss into killing one of heir own leaders. Christ she's good at her job.
I think she put it best in oe of my favorite videogame quotes ever: "I'm pretty much the Queen Bitch of the Universe.
Unfortunately, I couldnt find a clip of her in all her glory.
I'm not going for a 1 bad guy, but a species if that's ok.
I'm voting the Colussus from Shadow of the Colossus my favorite foes.
Every battle was intense and exciting, with you having to fight against these massive brutes. It's truly an epic game.
this is a fight with one of the largest colossus
Hmm, how about Luca Blight from Suikoden 2? He was a sick bastard, had some reason for being screwed up but it was mostly just because he was bloodthirsty by nature and had the beast rune.
Next up is one of my alltime favorite foes, though you'll have to fight him nearly every time you meet him he's actually not that evil.
Though he dies near the end of the game he'll dance his way up through hellfire to do battle once more, earning you the most powerful weapon in the game.
Here's Boomerang from Wild Arms:
I got to admit Ansem/Xeanort from KH II and Death from Castlevania are two of my all time favorite bad guys. But an other one that I loved to kill was Ultimecia (spelling???) from FFVIII. She was quite a b***** and she took about 45 minutes to kill, but God, it was fun, always wondering if I was going to survive or have to start it all over again.
So, mainly all SquareSoft/Enix villains I had to face were cool villains. Ho... and don't forget Weis from FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus!

I actually found Ultimecia to be pretty disappointing. Sure she had several forms, but they were all push overs. The fight was just kinda boring I thought. But I agree that Square has put out some some great villians. Zeromus and Kefka were great. And chasing that damn boss from DQ8(I forget his name) was tons of fun as he took all sorts of forms ranging from a dog to jester to one of your own party members.
Whilst I have to agree that Ultimecia was rather too easy I did find her boss battles rather enjoyable.
Up next, a boss whom definitely has not got any redeemable qualities,
the ultimate badguy from the 16bit era whom you may find in what is to me the greatest rpg ever made: Chrono Trigger.
The villainous Lavos, a truly evil creature who goes to planets to harvest genetic material, destroy the world, spawn more lavosian critters and reign supreme whilst creating from said materials a new life form within itself is not only powerful but persistent as well.
Not only can you fight him from nearly any point in the game (even more so when you finish the game for the first time, as this unlocks the straight off the bat Lavos battle access.), but he returns in the sequal to haunt you once more.(as the Time Devourer.)
In short this baddy could not only mop the floor with Sephiroth, Kefka and
a whole slew of other baddies, but the accompanying music is fantastic.
Whilst I would love to put all three final battles in here, ready to be viewed, I'll have to put links in for the 2nd and 3rd battle.
today's foe is perhaps the most persistent Enix final boss, Dark Gaia, whom you face both in Illusion of Gaia(/Time) and Terranigma.
Though perhaps not as tough as Solid Arm he's still a quite strong boss.
Today's bos is one everyone loves to hate, defeat and then use in the party.
In Valkyrie Profile he's not just an evildoer, but also an inadvertent savior of Lenneth, in VP2 he's the scheming mastermind who can count as quite a tough end of game boss.
Agree with Vergil from DMC3.One of the few bad guys that you dont hate but actually want him to live even if he is defeated.
Warning: A dude gets sliced in half
Cyborg Ninja. While he isnt the most powerful bad guy nor is he the most insane.Fighting him hand to hand in the game gives you a sense of honour and not to mention his sacrifice in the end makes you think bad guys arent all that bad

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Lezard Valeth
Lezard was a wonderful boss to fight because he was just so twisted.
I also thought that Albedo from the Xenosaga series was a really great character because he's so psycho.
@Argentine:Grey Fox is indeed one of the coolest characters in the series. ^_^
Just think, he was killed in MG2 only to be brought back from the dead as a cyber-organic ninja.
My pick of the day is the guy everyone loves to hate, literally.
He needs no introduction from me obviously, so here's Sephiroth:
I have many favourite foes, but one of the best, imo is the Majora's Mask; I love it because it's misterious and during all the game you can feel the pain of this character; the battle musics are AWESOME, and when I first beat him/her when I was 10 years old or so, I really took a sigh of relief.
Majora's Mask Final Battle
Another Foe I really love is Yygdrassil from Tales of Symphonia; the final battle speech is full of very nice themes that are common to the whole game, and the actor voices are just incredible. The battle is all in real time and I consider this game one of the best action rpg that came out in the last years.
Another great boss that I come across at first wasnt a foe,not even a threat at all.He is High Priest Zera, the somewhat pope of the Granas religion which most people in the game believe in.He makes you go around on a while goose chase, collecting all the parts of Valmar. before turning on you and saying
"You been praying to a dead god"
And all over the world goes into mass hysteria and panic as their hope turns into their nightmare,a reborn dark god
Yeah Sephiroth is pretty cool,a foe which actually gave me a good reason to kill him.He kill my fav character lol
