Well back when I played MW2 all I ever used was Scar, MP5K, Intervention, some of the shotguns, pistols and machine pistols. So I wouldn't know much about the ACR. I do however wonder why they had to put the 6.8 in the name. I don't think many players would know the difference if the only thing that changes is the name. If its not like how they changed the Spas-12 then I don't think they should have really bothered.
So is the RSASS going to be pretty much like the M21 EBR in MW2?
I did see one game where you had to pick up floating dogtags to confirm kills. I guess its some special game form.
I assume they put 6.8 in the name because of the 6.8 Remington SPC. It it is a future cartridge for the ACR in real life as well as the Soviet 7.62x39mm cartridge, which surprises me. The Soviet 7.62x39mm is a very popular cartridge, but the United States is so stringent on the idea of universal cartridges (NATO approved) that the idea of the ACR (the supposed replacement for the M16 in the United States) to be chambered with a Soviet cartridge baffles me.
Anyway, the fact that Infinity War bothered to call it the 6.8 ACR leads me to believe they did that because, in their mind, the ACR in Modern Warfare 3 will be the Remington SPC cartridge rather than the standard NATO assault rifle cartridge. That will more than likely make the ACR more powerful than some of it's assault rifle compatriots. But that's fine as long as the ACR isn't a damn laser with no recoil as it was in MW2.
Honestly I don't know much at all about the RSASS in real life. It appears to me as more of a designated marksman rifle, rather than a true sniper rifle. Both the Mk14 and the RSASS fire the Nato standard battle rifle cartridge (the 7.62x51). The RSASS boasts an effective range of 1000 meters, similar to the Mk14's +800m so...
