Global/General Sniper Rifle Discussion

Sniper of choice would have to be the Scavenger from Black Ops Zombies' Call of the Dead.That thing was just fun as hell to use.

I miss sniping, too bad I haven't played in months and totally suck at it now.

Man, it really feels good to be playing Bad Company 2 again.

Finally unlocked L96 and I'm like level 15 or something...

My god the Drop is half as much as the SV98... Also unlocked 12x and Bipod...

Can't wait to use it on wake island. On that Map I was making a killing with the SV98... Wonder how its gonna go now >=D

Something funny

most of the time I was playing I didn't realize that you had to press select to spot. So more then a week worth of trying to spot people... wasted... because I didn't know how to spot. Oh well at least I got kills with that RC surveillance thing.

So I think I unlocked most of the sniper rifles... damn there are a lot of good ones. I was able to finally get a service star for SV98 and M98B

Been playing BF3 too much so I'm trying to go back to skyrim and New Vegas.

I just remembered that I didn't even play BC2 on my new account yet... Man I should get on that. What are good maps for beginners?

No time or money to devote to BF3.

As for beginners to BC2, just stick to conquest. Too many noobs trying to play Rush from the beginning are giving me headaches right now.

really? For me conquest was really hard when I first tried on BF3 because of shit spawns and mostly because I only sniped. I'm sure its the same for BC2. Rush is good for people not use to maps and want to get better at getting kills. Though it is annoying when you're on a team that doesn't do crap at all no matter what the game type. My team usually wins when playing rush. Both due to competent teammates and good choices in game play. I find myself usually either in the middle or the best players on the team.

How does it usually go for you?

Quite honestly, I usually get stuck with the dumbass team mates who don't know friendly from foe, their ass from their elbow, small arms fire don't do shit to vehicles, etc.

I prefer Rush because it stresses Team work, where Conquest it's like Domination and TDM in one game mode and everyone does their own thing and it either leads to victory or defeat.

well yeah I hate it when the enemy has tons of Vehicles but none of my teammates want to go Assault or Engineer to take it out. (then again I think you can call in mortar strike in BC2 right?) OR I'm holding off the enemy but no teammates are nearby to take out the base. Or they all stand in a row in front of a door and wait to get mowed down by one guy.

However I thought Conquest was more of a team thing since its a pain in the ass when trying to take objectives by yourself. though I usually find myself taking bases by myself

Exactly, you see a tank, if you die, switch to Engi or if you can't do shit with Engi, at least have some C4 on you - and yes, you can call in mortar, but that's only for Recons.

Also, it does pay off to have more team mates helping you capture the objective, but usually it's one guy with balls of steel capturing an objective by himself, and he manages to capture it because he picked a good spot to hide in to defend himself while capping.

I love the M24 in BF:BC2. The gun just feels so... light. I use the default 6x scope, that scope is just perfect :)

I like the GOL also, but it just feels slightly heavier and that means Im less confident about using it in close quarters; I switch to my sidearm instead (they are just badass in this game).

But my favourite gun overall in the VSS (4x scope). That thing fires like crazy, hipfiring with it is just so good, even though it usually takes the whole 20 bullets to kill like that (but since its so freaking fast it doesnt matter). It also has more damage per bullet hit, and that with its fully auto fire and supressor makes this gun like the ultimate weapon.
Though I find it difficult to actually snipe with it, recoil like usual always makes it hard to do.

I love the M24 as well, first gun to get a Platinum Star with.

With the VSS, I feel it's design is more for mid to close quarters combat, given it's large ammo size and rate of fire.

Yeah, it's what I use the VSS for. Its kinda annoying that you have only 3 full clips, and then have to go get some more, since that means I can only reload 3 times (thats because I believe that reloading early should make you lose the ammo that was in your gun, so I play like that :P).

Oh yeah BTW, I have NEVER EVER used Magnum Ammo. Why? Well, first off, I didn't even know it was there until I got to level 30 (Ive unlocked everything in every class BTW, did that at lvl 20-ish) XD And even now (at lvl 35) I dont use it, I can use my sniper fine without it and my handgun is pretty badass too :P

I prefer to use the VSS w/ a 4x scope and mag ammo when I'm rushing as a Recon - full-auto gun w/ a better chance to kill.

And the 3 clip size, that's the max ammo every gun you carry can hold, unless you have the extra ammo perk, which doubles to at least 6 clips.

Hmm, best sniper ever? Depends on situation. On COD4 cant live withour M40A3. That gun murdered everyone. In the Chernobyl, With mods an Dragonov is still unbeatable even if the mod has AWM and HK417.

It all depends on situation. But M82 Barret with explosive rounds...

Yeah, it's just that it fires so fast and usually needs all of the bullets just to kill someone (spraying or hip firing, which is what I usually do).
