I need some FPS recomendation. Not COD or BFBC2

Short version:
- Recommend me a FPS game available for PC.
- no call of duty or battlefield game.
- I've considered medal of honor, but I'm not sure.
- Fast Paced Gameplay.

A huge part of this is that i play my games on my PC. I don't have money for a console. Another big part is that i buy most of my games of steam. Because where i live, buying them retail is quite difficult.

Furthermore, i bought MW2 and regretted it. The game is fun, sure. But IWNet fucked me. So i left it alone. I bought Black Ops because of dedicated servers. First time i bought a game so early in its release. I regretted that too. But to be fair, there was no way i could have predicted that the game was gonna screw me like it did. 4 or 5 patches in? Still no magical fix.

Steam has a x-mas sale. BFBC2 was on sale for 10,19. Bought that up because i heard good things about it. My first impressions were negative because i keep getting that "Lost connection to server" error, before i even connect to the server. Once i did manage to connect to one. I was not impressed with the gameplay. Its probably because I'm a COD fan, since COD 1. I grew quite fond of Fast paced gameplay. That Bad Company is not, i also got used to going prone and i find it takes an absurd amount of time to kill someone. I didn't kill that guy who i inserted 3 sniper rifle shots into his chest. Although i did kill that one guy by literally unloaded an entire clip of my sidearm into his back.

I fell back to COD4 after all of these games. And COD4 in my opinion is by far the best. MW2 could have compete as long as it learned from the mistakes of COD4 and added dedicated servers. One good thing about black ops is that they removed stopping power. Something MW2 should have done and i think they should just remove grenade launchers as well.

Not much of a PC gamer, but I did find a list you might find useful (i.e., all PC FPS).

Gamespot likes ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead for some reason. Maybe you can start there.

Counter Strike Source.

Tf2 obviously. Good amount of variety and challenges that also test and improve personal mouse skills and tactics. Very team oriented and challenging.

The only FPS you'll ever need.

Only real men play this.

This, or the older versions......nothing beats the classics.

Tell that to the 100+ 12 year olds who play it.

more man than the 12 year olds that play CoD.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein. It's an oldie but a goodie.

MoH is a good call, or Team Fortress 2

Wow, i actually feel kind of ashamed that i totally spaced those games. The list posted by Rbz will be helpful. ("bz" reminds me of another first person shooter called "battlezone" which also happens to be my favorite game of all time.)

Touching on the counter strike topic. I keep hearing that the counter strike 1.6 players will never touch counter strike source for some reason. Does anyone know what that reason is?

PS: Check out battlezone. Its an oldie just like wolfenstein but a goodie. Buy it, hell even pirate it if that's your thing. I don't care, just play this incredible game.

Gameplay wise, source is different than 1.6.
Source is more popular because it has better graphics and new gamers tend to buy the latest available version of a game.
But as far as I know, 1.6 has always been the messiah of pro gaming. Unlike Source you'll always see 1.6 in pro tournaments like WCG or ESWC. So players that have started on 1.6 will remain on it because of the "pro-factor".

Borderlands end of story... I have 15 days on that game.

actually its Sports, Shooting, Style and Esper...try S4 League :D...

I would also reccomend Borderlands, its fast and full of funny moments, i dont know if its fast enough, but maybe F.E.A.R would be also a consideration, since its scary.

Used to play versus like crazy. Played at least 3-5 games daily. And versus is about twice the length of a normal campaign. Also used to play some ladder with friends.
