Insurgency is a total conversion Source Engine mod developed by New World Interactive. To sum it up, it's a multiplayer tactical first person shooter. The game relies heavily on sighting in your weapon because there's no reticule nor ammo indicator. In fact, the only thing featured on your HUD is what weapon your currently equipped with, the map and blips where your team mates and the objective is.
Clocked about 6 hours of it so far and I'm liking the whole 'realistic' approach they've got going. I play mainly as a DM or Support because either I'm taking them out from a fair distance or I'm gonna spray them with lead. The weapon variety is fairly good, each class has a set of primaries they can choose, e.g. the Engineer can take either a standard issue M16A4, M4 Carbine, M590 shotgun or MP5K. Although there's only two pistols in the game, it's understandable that they have less variety on what is essentially meant to be a fallback weapon.
The player models themselves could have a little more personality as well. Seems like each class has a set appearance which is a shame since the insurgent team all have either a guy wearing a balaclava or a full face shemaghl(I don't like their eyes either) and the security team is either a light armored PMC or a completely concealed(mask, goggles and all) heavy. The AI also has some work to do but I won't go into detail on that since this is meant to solely be a multiplayer game.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this game despite some details which don't really do much to the overall experience. Definitely worth the $15 bucks to buy it on Steam, especially if you're gonna play it with friends.
