There is (or was) someone translating
Kanon for PSP, but unfortunately, there hasn't been any news for over a year.
However, porting VNs to PSP has been met with success. The only titles I know that have been ported are
Tsukihime and
Fate/Stay Night (the Fate/Stay Night tutorial is in Japanese).
To be honest, I don't really see a reason why you would translate a port of Kanon when there's already an English translated patch for the PC. I'm glad to hear they're working on Air PSP, though, because they haven't even finished the English patch for the PC. There's also a
Clannad English port for the PSP by dsoul of pspiso. (The password for the RAR is "eriss" without the quotes.)
But yeah, I suggested Romhacking.net and GBATemp to you because they actually know what they're doing. They have much more experience in rom hacking than we do (for the most part), because the people that go on there do specifically that.
Also, if you actually find a third-party translation, you wouldn't be able to run it out without your PSP homebrew-enabled. If you have a PSP-3000, you better hope that it's under 5.03 firmware, and if you have a PSPGo, you better hope someone'd find a crack in the latest firmware, and you do it before Sony patches it. The PSP 2000/1000 can easily be pandora'd, no matter what firmware. There are some 2000 models that are 'cursed' like the PSP 3000 is, though...
