The only thing that kept me playing was the story alone, the multiplayer has become to close-quaters, and im not a huge fan of the hook-blade.
But to see the final days of Altair, and Ezio learning the sercrets, and passing them on to Desmond, really a satisfing ending to the Assassin's Creed 2 Saga. With all that, You even get to start learning about Desmond! his early life, what he did, how he got there, and how it started! really sets a good pace to Assassin's Creed 3, Lets just hope that one does go to Assassin's Creed 3.04.
In the end, I felt the gameplay itself was 'meh' and lacking in what made Assassin's Creed, like, Made out of assassins! not murdous, kill-you-from-afar, guys who call themselves such, having all that armour (i'll have it, Really cool looking armor) and stuff, really made it feel like, "Sure, Mess up 100 times, and still do well enough to get though"
