There have been many themed visual novels in the past (catgirls, robots, catgirl robots, incestuous robot catgirls, etc) but the people at
Four Leaf Studios decided to think outside the box with their first demo release,
Katawa Shoujo, or ummm... Disability Girl.
The game is based around a boy with a heart condition forced to attend Yamaku Academy, a school for disabled students. And, yup, you guessed it, there happens to be girls in this school... girls with disabilities. Now I know what you're thinking, "Mike, are you are some sort of
sick bastard?" Well in short, yes, yes I am. I've been a lost cause for a long time now, and that only makes me like this visual novel that much more.
The characters have amazing personalities making it difficult to choose between them. The story flows very well and feels real, especially compared to some visual novels I've played in the past. And of course to top it all off, the girls have disabilities. Like I stated earlier, you probably think I'm a terrible person (and I could be) but it just rubs me the right way. And how could I be a horrible person when I'm looking past these disabilities, and seeing their "inner beauty"?
HA! Got ya there.
Anyway, check out this
awesome visual novel. When I first loaded it up, I went from start to finish in one sitting. From there I went through each girls arcs because I couldn't get enough of the game. I feel like a bit of a loser for having 100% completion on a demo but I really couldn't stop. Now I just gotta wait for the full release...
You can find their blog
here and download the game at the website
here.
Lastly, I just really want to give
Four Leaf Studios the credit they deserve. For a group of people from around the globe to come together and create something is no easy task. They have also already announced they will not be charging for the full version when it is released.
Simple amazing. Make sure you give them your thanks! Enjoy!
P.S. The final release will have hentai scenes.
