[color=#006FFF]Grasshopper Manufacture's next game; there have only been details given with no footage or screens shown, aside from some concept art. Until now; some scans from the latest issue of Famitsu have been released showing off the games graphic style and giving us a hint at its overall tone.
You'll notice from the scans, right away, that the graphical style is similar to that of Suda 51's Killer 7, which we could have all suspected would be the case judging by the title. The graphics and overall style of the game are looking pretty freaking sweet in high definition. I'm especially happy we'll finally be getting something more like what we're used to from Grasshopper (ie. something pretty serious with the typical off-color humor) as opposed to something like Lollipop Chainsaw which didn't interest me nearly as much as everyone else. Also, may I say that these character designs are looking freaking badass? So excited to see this in motion.
I'm interested in seeing how this connects to the 'Kill The Past' Universe Arc for his games.
From what was hinted at in universe, Killer is Dead is the bridge point between the end of the Kill the Past Arc [killer 7 was the end of it] and the newer arc [Starting with No More Heroes along with 'Diabolical Pitch']. Take note that Black Knight Sword and Sine Mora aren't part of the new Arc but some sort of sub arc. The current Arc is a little hard to fully map out, BKS and Sine Mora fit in together with BKS linking to Shadows of the Damned [BKS was 'advertised' as a play in one of Sine Mora's levels. BKS was hinted at in Shadows of The Damned]. 'Kill the Past' Arc was waaaay easier to understand since characters from other games will either show up and get killed just as soon as they appeared or be mentioned within the storylines of other games.
I eagerly await for more information.(things like platforms, although it's probably going to be 360/ps3 only)
I really like Killer 7 and No More Heroes so I get excited when Suda51 announces stuff.
[color=#006FFF]Yeah, it's been said--from the second scan above and on Famitsu--that the game will be for PS3 and 360 only.
I really like the idea of "absorbing" the enemies' blood to charge up for some special attack(s). It sounds like a nice reason to implement some stylish gore (i.e. blood spraying out of someone's neck after slicing their head off, (see badass image below), etc.) kind of in a similar way that Killer 7 did it with how people died in that (from what I remember--I never had the pleasure of playing it sadly).
And just to say, I love the names Suda comes up with for his protagonists. "Mondo Zappa" sounds like it'll be quite the memorable name, in a similar way that "Travis Touchdown" was/still is.
[color=#006FFF]Probably my favorite thing about Suda51 is his way of making violence and gore stylish, and this seems to be bringing that in full force. While it was somewhat hard to get a clear clip of uninterrupted gameplay, I can at least say that the game is looking fantastic in terms of graphics and animation. However, from what we can make out, the gameplay also seems to be like an advancement on NMH's gameplay, which is looking pretty good--it seems to be a bit faster paced. I'm also liking the serious yet laid-back nature of Mondo Zappa; despite being in a somewhat similar situation as Travis, it's nice to get a different kind of character for a change. 'Lookin' forward to learning about the rest of the colorful cast.

In killer 7, depending on 'how' you killed the heaven smile determined how much blood you got to give to the doctor dude to upgrade your characters. Hopefully something along those lines will be used in this game. It kinda gave off a bit of strategy in allowing players to kill of the enemy in a different fashion if the situation seems fit. Bonus Blood = hit the instant kill spot basically.
Also, the idea that the main badguy in this game uses music to fuck things up is interesting....

[color=#006FFF]Is he the main enemy? I thought he was just one of the earlier ones being shown, considering we see Mondo cut his head off. That'd be kind of lame to show him right off the bat; and to show his death scene at that.
I want to see some of those other stages shown @ 1:30. The city/town under fire looks cool.

The trailer hinted that you may have to fight this guy more than once. As Victor [he steals talent from musicians and used it to create negative emotions to cause malice] stated that he doesn't need a body to destroy Mondo. Or, to be more appropriate, 'it' doesn't need a body. He might not be the main bad guy but, it would make no sense to focus on that particular enemy if he didn't have that much of a impact.
One thing of interest I'm making a rough guess about is the end of the trailer....
The music used in the previews for the 'demon woman' is a remixed version of a track from the game Sine Mora. The special track was available in the open demo that was for PAX 2011
So yea, something epic is going down. It might be hinting at something to do with time, which would explain 'in part' about how Victor would be able to come back. [It was also stated that in the universe for Killer is Dead, they have space travel, Sine Mora happens on a different galaxy entirely so it could be possible...]
Suda is famous for making insane references in his other games. Black Knight Sword was advertised [as a poster] in Sine Mora as a play, The game itself was actually a play with puppets and full set pieces, all in the same art style that a particular level in shadows of the damned was in.
[color=#006FFF]Ah yes, I meant to post that.
I'm pleased with the voices we've heard thus far--especially Brian's. Now I just hope we can get some new footage (or maybe Episode 002 finally) soon.

I regret selling my bawks now, I was hoping a game worth buying a console for wouldn't come out until the next generation hit the shelves. Maybe I'll go and buy a PS3 though, it has lots of titles I'd like to play and this game gives me all the more reason.
Suda51 was also at GDC this year, and as such, we've been given a bit more of a peek at Killer is Dead. Siliconera hands-on with the Demo.
There isn't too much new information said in the article, but he does describe some small gameplay aspects that he did against the boss, Victor, from the trailer. I'm also pretty excited to see some of these new costumes.
[color=#006FFF]On a slightly unrelated, yet related, note, GHM has revealed some concept art of their next game to be released after KID. You might recognize the lady with the parasol.
[color=#006FFF]If that is indeed Shinobu (it certainly looks a lot like her if it isn't), then I wonder what it'll be about, but mostly, when it takes place. I'd say I'd like it to be about her backstory involving her father and how he died but she doesn't look very young in that art, so I don't think that'd be it. Right now, I'm more interested in the character art though. I generally love all of the character designs from GHM--especially in NMH--and I already like the bandage motif that character's got going. And I just noticed, the lady on the ground in the image with Shinobu(?) looks to resemble that lady with the bandages; a rival perhaps?
