So long as your current save is not corrupted, swapping out the file shouldn't harm anything. Really the only thing that will cause you an issue is if you're on the specific home base that crashes the game (snchoun-009) when you change out the file - but for the sake of simplicity I recommend you just make sure you're somewhere on the main storyline. A quick check has been done across all the scripts in the hopes of avoiding this particular issue in the future. Everything looks good, but a much more thorough check will be done with the release of 2.0rc2 (in which we hope to include both this hotfix and the Ougi voice).

I'm also getting the same problem with part 7.
Says "Temporary error, retrying" and it's been days.
Nevermind it came around after all
