I have never heard of this game, or have any idea when it came out or the gameplay it had.

Pretty easy and short, the story seems very generic... but it has a lot of merits.
It was called Knight and Baby in Japan. It had standard Turn Based RPG elements, but many innovative aspects. It had a partner 'Default Name: Baby' who you had to take care of by keeping it healthy, feeding it, training it, etc. If it was unhappy, it would attack you. If it was, you could tell it to do certain commands, like defend, support, attack, flee, etc.
The other was that it had the unheard of aspect of putting enemies on the map for you to see. They appeared in the form of ghosts, and depending on how evil it looked, it would change in power.
Magic was a no go, so instead you had something called 'Psychic Points,' which allowed you to summon the 'living toys,' which are exactly as the name implies.
Overall, it is a quirky RPG. A little like MOTHER, but for the PS1. It had the most bizzare form of ocean travel as well... a Water Strider.
Holy Crap! I still have the game somewhere buried in my room! It took abit to get used to, but that was one of the best RPGs of the time i have actually played.

Emulator... I love it. I remembered playing this game, so... yeah.
