FUCK! I knew it!! THIS ANIME WAS A VN!
Actually, this has been going on for awhile. Since Kimi Ga and titles like Shuffle! were made into anime, it's an ever increasing number of VNs being converted into anime. So normally when you have a guy that's surrounded by a bunch of potential targets, you can safely say that there is a high chance that it is a VN. LoL. The only problem I have with these anime is that they don't usually end in a satisfactory manner. For example, take the following from the more recent titles:
Fortune Arterial, Princess Lover
Usually what they do is they get the story on and on, then they just suddenly rush the last 2 episodes and get the main to make a choice. Either that or you get an 'ending which is not really an ending', where the guy doesn't choose but remains friends with all of em, leaving you fuming and cursing that you don't have a proper closure to the series, yet you don't know enough Japanese to play the VN. Like the below:
FA Spoiler alert!!
In my opinion, Fortune Arterial was pretty good, just that they had to end with the main not choosing anyone and throwing off your focus into Erika's 'Vamp or no vamp?' issue. I mean, seriously - the whole series she was saying that she wouldn't want to take a servant, wouldn't want to suck blood etc. At the end, all that it took was a simple phrase of "I'll let you drink my blood" from the main guy and she makes this snap decision that "Let's break my rule since the main guy said that". THAT's an ENDING????????
That said, I'm expecting this series to be somewhat the same. I can only hope it doesn't end that way. Kimi Ga is one of the perfect examples of great closure, though I think it could have been a couple of episodes longer.
