Daemon Tools Tutorial
Introduction:
Daemon Tools is a disk image emulator and optical disc authoring program for Microsoft Windows. A disk image emulator is computer software designed to mount a disk image, usually of a CD or DVD, from a local hard drive or USB flash drive. The mounting is usually done by creating a virtual drive on the system, that to the operating system looks like an ordinary disk drive, in other words disc reading hardware is substituted with disc images.
(Yes, I took that description from Wikipedia. Sue me)
Daemon Tools is use to run games so you need to have the application open as long as you're playing the game.
These are some of the file types supported by Daemon Tools:
- cue (CDRWIN)
- bin
- iso
- ccd (CloneCD file)
- mds (Media Descriptor File)
- cdi (Discjuggler file)
- nrg (Nero file)
There's probably more types out there but those are usually the common ones.[/h]
Part 1, Installing Daemon Tools:

-
Download Daemon Tools. You can get the latest version from that link.
- Open the .exe file
- Follow the instructions and install the application.
- Make sure you uncheck anything you don't want. People always forget to do that for some reason.
- Start Daemon Tools. A red lightning bolt will appear in the system tray near the clock. This is what you use to work with Daemon Tools.

Part 2, Mounting an image file:
Make sure you're trying to install an Image File. If you don't know the type, you can find out by right clicking the file and checking the properties.
I'm gonna use Discipline as an example because I really love that game. (Plug brought to you by Azuran)
