Can somebody please explain the fun of this game? I'm not trying to troll. Every time I see a video and some ecstatic explanation for the awesomeness that is allegedly happening on screen, I just don't get it. It just looks like a monumental waste of time. I played with legos as a kid and I got over it. As such, I can't justify dropping 10 dollars on something that just seems so pointless.
This is the best way I can explain it: Minecraft is magic. No, really. Minecraft has a tendency to bring out the creative side of you. In a screenshot, you can't really grasp what's going on unless you've played it. The thing is, though, for everyone, Minecraft addictions start out as mild curiosity. "Hey, this looks cool, maybe I'll give it a try." They give it a try, and before they know it, they're constructing a multi-level stone tower to the heavens with cactus palisades and canons to fight off spawns of creeper insurgents.
Minecraft draws out the imagination just as much as it draws out the side of us that used to play with legos. I, too, got over legos--but Minecraft is what legos couldn't be: immersive, addictive, expansive. (To be completely honest, you can probably create more in Minecraft than you could with just legos.)
