So. I'm genuinely curious as to what the gameplay appeal of this game is. It would seem to me that the entire formula for the game can be distilled into learning a character's 30-40% damage juggle combos and throwing in the occasional ranged attack when they are far away from you. It seems to me that every character has roughly the same moveset (uppercut, low kick, a few punching combos, a "mid-close-far" type attack, a projectile, a homing attack and a counter/reflect are basically just recycled through the characters and given slight tweaks and a new paint job)
TL;DR: Could someone tell me what there is to like about this game.
Of course. The only thing is that you have to work have to get those juggles to work on your opponent. The entire point of the game is to open them up and unleash hell. That's always been the way fighting games with juggles work. At least it's not as bad as Tekken where you can lose the round in one juggle combo.
But the bloody gameplay is practically just a gimmick, the characters are mostly similar and the story is patently ridiculous.
PROTIP: If your game's story includes the word "Soulnado" seriously at any point and for any reason whatsoever. Kill yourself and kill the project.
The character are not similar... at all. Anyone who has played this for more than 5 minutes will quickly attest to that.
Of all the dumb things in the game, you're gonna complain about the soulnado? Seriously? Since when do people take the story of MK seriously anyways? I'm pretty sure Mr. Boon and company are happy with the millions of sales they got from this. Soulnado be damned.
