M:TG: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012

Ahhhh Magic the Gathering. I remember my sis having those cards growing up and is probably one of my inspirations to become an artist. So i found out that Duels of the Planeswalkers just came out on Steam and decided to get it. Boy was it worth it.
-The Graphics-
Ehhh ........ well what do you expect, its a card game ported over to a video game. Aside from the absolutely stunning artwork on the cards themselves there isn't much to look at. Up side is even on crappy setups it runs fine (like my POS T_T).
-The Gameplay-
As fun, strategic, and addictive as ever. If one thing can be said about this game is nothing is set in stone. Matches where someone is dominating the entire round can turn around incredibly fast leading to quite tense fights where you are just thinking to yourself "Oh god, will I be able to survive one more round to throw out my hail Mary?"
That said this is also one of those games that will have you tearing out your own hair or yelling at your screen. The game has this very nasty habit of wanting to screw you over by giving you nothing by land cards or extremely weak and\or situational cards over and over leading you to a very slow demise. This is exasperated by that fact that the AI ALWAYS seems to get the right cards and never suffers from the aforementioned land stacking.
-The Downside-
Unfortunately at the moment the game is rather lacking in features. For one the options menu is bare bones and you can defiantly tell it was made for a console in mind. You also can build a deck of your own as of yet, but it is on the devs to-do list. That game has just came out after all so it is something to expect to be a little lean.
There are also of course some balancing issues where some cards are extremely overpowered.
-The Upside-
It is of great value sitting around 10 bucks on Steam. What is there is a very good and with multiple gameplay modes and online matches it defiantly worth the ten bucks. And oh yes did i mention the artwork?
All in all this is a pretty damned good game.
