edit: What is up with the low views? Is curiosity that scarse nowadays? You're missing out foo's. I changed the title to maybe gather some people.
I found this a few days ago, and I'm very glad I did so. This is the coolest thing i've seen in a while.
It's the second annual
Sense Of Wonder Night. And basically what it is, is an international contest for experimental game developers. The objective of the contest is to discover new game ideas that will give people a “Sense of Wonder”. You'll understand what it means when you watch it. The winners get to show their work in this event, held at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show.
There's a translator on the side translating from english to japanese and vice versa, so that everyone understands what is being said. So no need to worry about them moonspeakers.
ps: If you hear some weird buzzing sounds, it means people are using Smile Hammers
These motherfuckin things.
They're suposed to replace clapping, as it interrupts the presentations - being that each presentation has to be under 10 minutes (in the previous/first SOWN people clapped alot, and it turned out to disrupt the flow of the presentations for both the people presenting their works and well as the translators).
Now people, here's the good stuff.
At least watch Hazard, Shadow Physics and Incompatible BLOCK. Those 3 are really amazing.
Ball Carry | Takuya Ono
Hazard - The Journey Of Life | Alexander Bruce
Shadow Physics | Enemy Airship
Incompatible BLOCK | Jun Fujiki
You Only Live Once | Marcus Richert
His And Her Disconnected Conversations | Himo
Swarm Racer 3000 | Joseph White
para rail | Kuniaki Watanabe and Onitama
Transcend | Zach Aikman
ecopilt | misi
Enjoy!
Fun fact: One of the juries is the creator of Katamari Damacy, Keita Takahashi.
Also, it's sponsored by Criware, Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony. Serious business yo.
