Old School Eroge [DOS and WIN95]

I might be posting something that's already on the forums, but this post is dedicated to the days of old! Back when game makers only had 256 colors to work with and the maximum screen resolution was 800 X 600! I don't know about you guys but I miss those old games. They bring back memories of when i was obviously too young to be on these sites. *sniff* They grow up so fast!

OK so quick little note, you will probably need a DOS emulator to play some of these unless you have a pre-WIN2000 pc. the upside is they're all super small! with this, who cares about bandwidth limit! besides, this is when the classics were made!

Now I was only able to get my hands on three, but I'd like to see what you guys can find! (I know I'd love to play the paradise heights series again =3 )

I've played true love and paradise heights (1 and 2).
i'd pick true love out of the two

I've played several of those games and gotta say that True Love is the best in my opinion.

As for what I still have I think have the Paradise Heights 1&2 lying around on some external somewhere but I know I have princess maker with the incomplete english patch lying around on this HD.

Can't really chose between true love and season of the sakura.
Both of them are memorable.

well, I already played almost all of them in that poll, excluding Rance (technical), three Sisters (technical), Time stripper Mako, etc (technical means I have it but can't play ut to the "Ancientness" of the game)

well, honestly Princess Maker is the one I like. I even played the 4th of the series, that is supervised by Gainax, and same illustrator with sister Princess.

did you get the technical part? I don't know why, but most of them don't work with my PC because of the ancientness... lol

I never said I don't like old art, since I played True Love

the one i like is Princess Maker. i've played all the series, i like the fourth series most. very nice. but there is something missing in it. first to third series lost them when lend to friend. not bad too.

From the list I chose Immoral Studies, I used to remember trying my best to download them on dialup. Another fave of mine that's not on the list is Knights of Xentar (but i guess by today's standards KoX is not an eroge) and Maid Story.

I've played most of those... They're really diferent from the recent ones in terms of gameplay and story... My fave one was true love. ^^

Btw, does anyone know where to get the older rance games? I'm playing the one fakku translated, but i wanted to play the first ones... xP

For the incompatibility issue because of "ancientness", you can always use DOSbox! That's how I play seasons of the sakura on WINXP.

for me it would have to have been a choice between True Love and Season of the Sakura, they were the best.

Damn. Season of the Sakura was the first visual novel I played back in late 1996 right after JAST USA released it, and I only heard about it because I really liked Rayearth and Evangelion (which the game references both very nicely in it's characters). I REALLY REALLY REALLY feel sorry for people who couldn't experience that type of magic back in the day. It to this day still has a more in-depth story that many of the common eroge games that are released. That game made you actually work REALLY hard to get the sex scenes for many of the girls, and even then you weren't guaranteed to get them in the end if you played the game wrong. You have to remember that was way before we had anything of the sort of any type of anime game that wasn't watered down through Americanization and still recognizable (other than the fact they had to raise all the girls' ages to at least eighteen), plus we were only getting maybe 25% of the anime/manga we get now in terms of volume (also remember no such thing as manga graphic novels at this time).

Seriously, if you haven't played through that game all the way and completed at least half of the story lines then you cannot call yourself an eroge game player. That should be next on anyone's list to play if they haven't.
