Description: Overwatch features squad-based combat with two opposing teams of six players each.Players can choose from a multitude of heroes, each with their own unique abilities and role classes. The four character roles include: offense characters with high speed and attack but low defense, defense characters meant to form choke points for enemies, support characters that provide buffs and debuffs for their allies and enemies respectively (such as healing or speed alterations), and tank characters that have a large amount of armor and hit points to withstand enemy attacks and draw fire away from teammates. Players can switch between characters in-game following deaths, which is encouraged by the game's overall design. The game's maps are inspired by real-world locations; the first three maps unveiled ("King's Row", "Hanamura", "Temple of Anubis") are inspired by London, Japan, and the ruins of Ancient Egypt, respectively.

Speaking from initial impressions.

If this game becomes free to play, it has the potential to be as phenomenal and world-renowned as DoTA as a multiplayer focused experience. It's got super casual and heavy skill-based play for a large variety of players. Very high expectations.

I'm hoping more info comes out about that this coming Friday for Blizzcon. A dev already more or less confirmed all future and current heroes will be F2P. I don't mind aesthetic micro transactions tbh, i know there's a war on MicroTrans in the gaming industry atm. as long as actual gameplay elements like heroes etc. are free

There's a threat lingering over Overwatch that it could turn into hero rotations like LoL(which would technically mean all heroes are free) and the issue with that would be how certain heroes directly counter others so people could buy heroes out of rotation to abuse them on people only playing heroes in rotation(aka playing for free). I hope not though, Overwatch might have enough potential to invest into a professional scene and use a F2P model carried by advertisement revenue to survive. Paying up front for the full game would hurt the amount of players but that's still better than the former.

Yeah cosmetics would be welcome, like a Demon Hunter Tracer or Grommash Reinhardt non-blizzard stuff would be cool too.

By the way the newest hero is a professional Korean Sc2 player who was drafted into the army. She's pretty much for the anime demographic and it's going to be great.

TotalBiscuit, Jesse Cox and Dodger on the most recent Co-Optional podcast were saying this has the potential to be a League or CS:GO competitor if they play their cards right with the payment styles. Though going F2P + Free Heroes with a cosmetic shop would be putting a lot of faith in this title. Blizzard has been playing it really safe lately IMO, hopefully they take a risk here.

Based on the information I got.

OW is going to be available for PC, PS4 and XboxOne. There will be a "Starter/Origin Edition", I do not know the price, but I am guessing 35-45$.

As with Heroes of the Storm, they will offer Skins and Content for other Blizzard Games.

I do not know if Blizzard has stated if the game will be F2P or not, but we will probably find it later today or tomorrow during the BlizzCon.

oh shit thats Dunkey, he did a content video for Overwatch. Also that Futurama reference is awesome. Give D.Va and Neon Genesis Evangelion Skin and this will have everything i need.

Unfortunately for me, I do not like FPS. So even though it's a FPS styled like a MOBA, I just won't be able to get into it.

However, based on watching streamers play it, I can say that it looks like they made a really good game and did a really good job incorporatng elements of FPS and MOBA together.

Bump since the game is going into Open Beta this Wednesday. Early access begins tommorrow, is anyone in on this?

I'm game to play with you peeps. Blizzard definitely has a great model of hooking their audience in. I think it's about time that I move away from TF2 now

Open Beta starts 5th. Early acesses to open beta starts tonite/tomorrow.(Pre-orders and such)

I do plan on getting it but, will confirm after the beta. Expections seem to be high for this game, so I'm taking a cautoys approch.

I'm watching Battleborn with interest but will hold back until I can get more confirmation on the game play itself.

As for Overwatch, I'm still currently enjoying it now. Trying to get to rank 20 for the ranked game. Though the whole amount of maps is sorta overwhelming for me.

My roommate has been obsessed with this game for over a year now and finally convinced me to pre-order it. We also have several other friends who did the same and I have to say that playing together tonight was a lot of fun. The in-game voice chat worked fine and it's pretty sweet how you can unlock skins for free. My first impressions are very positive and I usually stay away from FPS games.

I suck at this game, but it's fun.
I think I won one game out of the ten or so matches I played. GG.
