Every player is part of one server, one scene, one storyline.

Perpetuum is a persistent sandbox MMO, taking place in a futuristic mecha war setting.
In the not-too-distant future, a strange anomaly opens the gates of the universe for humans. With this new technology energy, information and atomic size objects can be transported to anywhere in space.
The most intriguing of all new discoveries is an Earth-like planet, where humanity discovers a new source of energy, vital to its unbroken advancement. However, this planet is inhabited by a synthetic, robot-like life form. Their technology and resources are the goal of humanity's new conquest.
The game is heavily inspired after EVE Online - in fact, the game is where a solid part of EVE's playerbase went after it's arguable 'downfall', but enough of that!
As a sandbox MMO, the game revolves around player-made rules and areas. Alliances between strong individual corporations form the frontlines of a massive war, and the player is to decide his own role. Do you want to become a fighter or a craftsman? Loyal member of an alliance or a pirating freelancer? Pick your downfall wisely.
The game doesn't feature a level system, but rather a time-based skill point system that lets the player advance in areas he's willing to spend them on. Anyone who tried out EVE will be familiar with the idea, but don't worry - this time you won't need years of time before you're capable of playing with the big guns.
The game got it's release in November 2010, and it's steadily growing both in terms of playerbase and content. It's about to be featured on Steam as well, and the expected influx of new players will make it a perfect time to get into the game as well. Try it out, it's a free trial anyway! The game has a monthly subscription system
completely free of item mall and other pay2pwn horse shit that's so common these days. Want to keep playing beyond the trial? The game is featured in the
Green Light Bundle, allowing you to get your first subscription month for only 5$/3.8€. Don't want to keep paying? You can buy subscription time with ingame money!
You're going to check it out? Here's some info on your character creation.
The three major factions;
Nuimquol, the 'blue' faction, former Europe.
- the fastest of all the robots, packing the highest damage output in the game. Dangerous close combat fighters. Their weak point is range. Magnetic-type weapons.
Thelodica, the 'yellow' faction, former Asia.
- Combining high damage and high range into powerhouse designs, they feature devastating strength that should be avoided in direct encounters. Their weak point is endurance. Laser-type weapons.
Thelodica, the 'green' faction, former United States.
- featuring the slowest movement and the lowest damage output in the game, they make up for it with the most endurance, the highest range as well as the ability to arc their weapons, shooting over obstacles and not be as affected by direct line of sight as the other factions, allowing them to use terrain heavily for their advantage. Missile-type weapons.
Joining any of these factions doesn't decide how you interact with other players or enemies in general, they only determine your starting skills (And I'm not even sure about this anymore since they might have overhauled character creation already!) and which bots you can pilot. Don't worry, you're free to train and advance into any faction, although focus is key.
Money is important. Trading, crafting and other activities in that area might be a good source, but it will take just about as much dedication at first as becoming a combat pilot, and you might get bored if your main goal is to blow things up. There's ways to make money as a combat pilot as well, so don't worry too much about it!
Oh, I forgot to mention. If you die you lose your shit. Haha.
