Honestly, it looked like some kind of Dreamworks licensed game, but cheesy-er.

If it doesent fuck up Backwards Compatibility then im willing to give it a chance of success.

Price at launch should be affordable they said. By affordable, it's probably 300-400 euros/dollars.

Also, Versus XIII, time to renew the hype.

Lastly, chances are the online won't be free anymore.

Im probably not going to buy it unless I see the launch games but I am excited to see what they will be doing with it.

You fail to consider that the PSP went up against the best selling handheld (and best selling overall, beating the PS2) console, the Nintendo DS. It's not hard to outsell a console that happened to be in that position.

This actually looks cool, I like the old PS2 look.

The XMB icons in the middle of the controller seem pretty pointless, but I do like the look of the system itself.
Although I'm also not a fan of consoles being media boxes, I already have a PC for that.
All I want a console to do is to take the disc and start the game.

Going against 3ds. Going against ps2 has nothing on this console release battle currently. The comparison is far fetched. 5 3ds to 1 psv vs 2 ds to 1 psp total. Ds and 3ds were instant hit because of game albums list of Mario and zelda. Psp wasn't a hit until cfw came out and vita will get a easier version of cfw soon... maybe. You can't call something a flop until they discontinue the line like sega Saturn or gamecube.. or even the game gear.


Going against 3ds. Specially with the vita is going up against with a rise of psp sells for stockpile, dsi, 3ds and the price higher then a xbox or ps3. I cannot say much since both of mine were free and sold one 700$.

Im not calling the system a failure. I actually happen to own a Vita, and it's not a bad system.
The thing is, sales of the Vita sold well under Sony's projected numbers, and for a while they lost money on the Vita. That's what I meant by using the term 'tank'

Also, the DS sold well not because of Mario, but because of Nintendo's mentality of opening games to a broader and more wide audience.

I agree. I thought the numbers would be higher. It sold out in jan when i preorder the Japanese version. I guess more fanboys orderings then flatline until more popular games, price drop and cfw for the westerners. Im not real happy with it but i got mine for a mobile player and blazbule. That and i use to recode for people and i needed one to check the releases on. The japanese one broke and my brother got one for free from his job... he a xbox junkie and hates all sony products so i got it plus won one months later.

Realistic expectations(well mine):

• $400-$600usd or no price confirmed
  No backwards compatibility(physical backwards compatible)
  Streaming
  Media center
  No "Last Guardian"
  Better than the Wii U/PS3, but the leap won't be big at all.
  Integrated Move
  No RIDGE RACER moments. ;_;
  

Things I really don't want to see

• Propriety memory cards(I'm not buying a vita even though it has more than 6 games I want)
  No used games
  Paying for PSN.
  No games.
  PS3 controller not usable on the PS4
