I'm gonna get Diamond as that seems to be the one with the best pokemon. Not that it really matters since there is wi-fi trading and I can get anything that isn't in my cart through that.
And hacked pokemon are probably a rather benign presence. I'm sure the game will be plagued by assholes but if you check the pokemon out properly (hatching location and stats are the easiest ways to catch poorly made hacked pokemon) then you should be able to escape the dodgier of pokemon.
I think most, if not all, of the DS wi-fi capabilities is limited by that annoying "friend code". It's still true for Pokemon D&P, but the Global Trade Center is taking it up a notch. Of course, like you mentioned, this will definitely pose threats in regards of hacked pokemon.
As for Diamond having the best pokemon, I didn't really mind since I completed Pokemon R/S/E/LG/FR in GBA and I can just transfer my team and breed them =/
I'm choosing Diamond over Pearl because of the difference between Dialga and Palkia. Even though I'm probably never going to use these legendaries, I still like to compare their capabilities. They did the mirroring of the legendaries a little different this time. Even though they still have the same amount of points, it's how they're allocated. Dialga has more HP and Def while Palkia has more SP. Def and Spd.
However, I'm not really concerned by that. It's the elements! I mean wtf ... They finally made the legendary combo of steel/dragon (Dialga) which owns the measly water/dragon (Palkia). Basically, Dialga has 2 [2x damage receive], 3 [neutral damage receive], 10 [0.5x damage receive] and 1 [0.25x damage receive] while Palkia has 1 [2x damage receive], 13 [neutral damage receive], 1 [0.5x damage receive] and 2 [0.25x damage receive]. I still think Dialga is rigged with that much resistance.

I might get this. Haven't played a Pok?mon game since Gold/Silver.
Gold/Silver/Crystal undoubtedly revolutionized the gameplay of pokemon.
Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/Fire Red/Leaf Green were more of an eye-candy and the extra features weren't as moving as they were in the past generations.
Diamond and Pearl surprisingly brings all of that together D:~
