I'm not a fanatical "Only the first 151 grrrrr" type, but if there WAS a new game with just those, it would still be a lot less Psychic happy. Consider the fact that since Bite went Dark, frickin' WARTORTLE has a Power 60 Dark move. Psychics aren't overpowered anymore, just very good.
But recall that most Psychic types can learn a wide variety of moves. So that Wortortle with Bite will get owned by a Kadabra with Shockwave. Out of the first gen., a Gengar with Shadow Ball is the only non-Psychic type that worries Psychic types, but it's on equal footing at best since Gengar is also a Poison type.

Speaking of types, is it just me or does it seem like after Red/Blue/Green/Fire Red/Leaf Green, that Fire Pokemon are rarer than the other types? It always seems like if you didn't choose the Fire starter pokemon the you'd have to wait quite a while to catch one.
I've only felt that it applied to DPPt, where there are only two Fire types before beating the Elite Four. You do have to wait a while to get them in the other games though.
Actually, scratch that. I checked out Serebii.net, and there's been very few Fire types in every gen.
