Yup, sony fighting for the cause that corporation wants, when you buy something you're renting it! Even food that you just ate and is in stomach.
U wanna corporations sue you for the hotdogs and pizzas you're eating? No? Well. You just proven that $ony is a bunch of.. i dont know what word to use.
Even when you're innocent, and using other os for perfectly legit purposes but naw, sony gonna remove ur ability to use that feature for lulz and laziness.
The difference is that food is a product of a different type of business. Many gaming corporations are already choosing other consoles because the PS3's production costs are too expensive. One of the main reasons gaming companies choose it is that because it's supposed to be safe, if someone hacks into it successfully and is able to make a firmware that allows users to play free games it would really tarnish the company's reputation and lose what ever credibility it has left.
As much as I like the idea of being able to play my ps2 games in my ps3 I would say that Geohotz didn't think for everyone's best welfare when he hacked into the ps3 and blatantly distributed it. What I would've done if I were him was to approach Sony and tell them specifically on how I broke into the unit which may help them cut down on production costs without letting go on the other features. What he did was a double edged sword which not only tarnishes the console's already flawed reputation but also takes away future epic games from innocent gamers.
So basically how i see the picture is:
Microsoft gets their way using the $ method
And Sony gets their way using the flawlessness of their safety measures which is pretty much scrapped by now.
And the outcome is: Gaming companies can pretty much put a cross on PS3 and just target 360's audience, after all the difference at this point is....PS3 game production costs 2 times 360's production which is kinda.....
We can start selling our consoles already lol before they cost - digits lol.
