galaxy and twilight(wii plus GC version) both have only sold more around 6 mil for each. Also realize that these 2 games aren't even the biggest sellers on teh wii. The shift of gaming from these 2 genres has flowed over to wii sports and wii play, which both are the main sellers of the wii. Also, Mario 64 sold 11.8 million while Ocarina of Time sold 7.6 million. Ocarina of time opening first month sold 2.5 mil. Twilight's first month sold around 1 mil (GC and wii numbers combined). This also looks bad because technically E.T. the video game on the Atari sold 1.4 million copies in a much shorter amount of time. And you get the picture.
Those are total sales. I wouldn't be surprise if Galaxy reaches (or even surpasses) those numbers come the end of this gen.
Also, TP didn't sell as much because Nintendo was having shortages during the first months after the launch. Wii Sports comes packed with the system so those numbers are meaningless and Wii Play comes with a free Wiimote.
1. Wii Sports (26.295 million)
2. Wii Play (11.51 million)
3. Mario Kart Wii (6.42 million)
4. Super Mario Galaxy
5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (5.633 million)
6. Wii Fit (5.27 million)
7. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (4.52 million)
8. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (3.4 million)
9. Super Paper Mario (2.28 million)
10. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (2.26 million)
11. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (2 million)
12. WarioWare: Smooth Moves (1.82 million)
13. Mario Strikers Charged (1.77 million)
14. Link's Crossbow Training (1.71 million)
15. Carnival Games (1.5 million)
16. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (1.31 million)
17. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (1.3 million)
18. Rayman Raving Rabbids (1.2 million)
19. Sonic and the Secret Rings (1.2 million)
20. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (1.1 million)
That's a lot of "hardcore" titles for a "casual gamer" console.
