So for those of you who don't know (and you should) RoAWZ is out today! I've been waiting for this game for a while, and I was UNABLE TO BEAT THE FIRST GAME!!! Which is annoying, but I'd rather play and beat the first before moving onto the prequel. But I did open it up and play the game a bit, first off the box is nice, holds the 32 page booklet, 36 track sound track, game and card box in place well and looks good. The card box is a beautiful blue and inside is two decks, one the "skill cards" in game in which you use to customize your character, which this goes further than RoAW's (and other RPG's) system of customizing a character, they are very cool looking. In addition, to start off you get to choose what class you'd like to be, Warrior, combat mage and a sorcerer, and work form there, however I don't know if you can stray away from your selection later on. The other deck is a stander 54 card poker deck with the face cards as characters of the game, very nice, good quality and comes in it's own box. Moving on, the booklet has a bit of info (statistic spread, background info, etc) on some of the characters, from playable ones to NPC's, as well as a few miscellaneous photos and a brief show of what you can redress your ladies to look like... The sound track is satisfying, maybe a little too "sund tracky" for me to throw onto my ipod, but it's nice to have. And onto the meat of this stew, the game. First off, the menu is almost identical with "continue" or "new game" options, but on the "new game" selection, you will be asked to load the cleared file from the first RoAW (if you have it, or beaten it). It offers no description on what you get if you have beaten in (I will find this out and report as soon as I do) but other wise, just click the "no data" (something like that) selection to proceed. The character cut scenes are nice, and well animated, not like an anime, not sure how to describe it, but they flow very well, and the animations just add a bit more of a touch of closeness to the game. Also, the battle tutorial is FAR more in depth, and given to you immediately, along with how to use items, unfortunately, you cannot skip this. The dialog now has a "back log" action, which is very helpful, and plays out more like a computer Visual Novel. On the battle screen, things just look... better. The graphics (obviously, nothing much to improve on using the sprites and such) but things look more rounded off, more vibrant and over all more aesthetically pleasing. Also, the battle animations are a little more intricate with more to see and so forth. A personal favorite is the fact the attack selection box is smaller and moved over, so you're able to see the battle field as well as who you're attacking, a very nice touch. In the menu, it is very similar to the first game, with a s few of the options merged with others for convenience, but not ot large of a learning curve. What's really cool is any photo from your photo gallery can be made your back ground (can't wait to get some of those sexy pictures now!) and you can also view characters on a back drop as they breath, change their expressions and the like. Also, all videos and events can be reviewed in one of the panels. That's all for now, I gotta beat the first game but I'm thoroughly excited to get into this one!
