It really makes censorship look like a whore and it's very random at times. Today I got a JP-ps1 game and im ready to play it then suddenly my ps3 pulls "Disc format could not be read" out of its ass. So being pissed and all i decide to dust off the actual PS1. Then this one decides to say "Please insert a playstation format disc". I'd try with my ps2 but knowingly its most likely not going to work.
You'd think that sony wouldn't add a region block to games that are from 1999. I find it weird that the PSP can play Japanese games smoothly and the ps3 can play Japanese PS3 games without an issue. I know the disc format is different but im thinking since its a stronger system it would bypass it without problems but no.
Here's my question... Where can i buy a japanese PS1?
they didnt just decide to block different region discs because they could, theyre in a different format. as an example, PAL discs output in different resolutions or refresh rates iirc
at least all PS3 games and blu-ray movies are region-free
