Scott Pilgrim vs the World is a homage to traditional gaming, built by some fans that were eventually hired out by Universal. None the less, it still follows it's original style and hasn't been altered very much which makes it rare movie spin-off game (in that it is not complete and utter shit.) It includes references to a couple of anime, comics, music . It fights like a few of the TMNT games they had quite a few years ago, and in true TMNT style, bosses blink when they are nearing their destruction. The graphics they have used aren't something to be shocked about, the visuals look like something from the late 80's to early 90's. But it's a tribute to traditional gaming, of course it's going to look that way.
There have been a lot of complaints about how hard the game is and I'd say it's rightfully deserved. They weren't joking around when they decided the name for the hardest difficulty should be Supreme Master (the other two are just Easy and Normal); so if you plan on being a perfectionists or are for some reason into getting all of a game's achievements, expect one hell of a play through if you don't start on easy or normal first.
For your basic controls you have a vertical attack (tends to knock people back), horizontal attack, jump, dash, and dash low kick. You gain more moves as you level up.
In game combos are usually pretty easy to pull off, nothing extremely complicated, you have two power moves that use up your guts (which you can alternatively not use in order to restore your health once you reach 0.) Each character and their unlockable (One differs from the PS3 and X-Box versions) have different basic attacks and powers, as well as specials. Most other skills are the same however.
Overall I had a great time playing through Scott Pilgrim vs the World and am probably going to go back and play through it again. It's definitely something you'd want to play with your friends as well, supporting up to 4 players.
I know I sound like a salesman but it's a damn good game.
4 player mode is chaos though, too many things moving in the screen.
apparently We haven't finished it yet, since the day when we finally had time to play this together, we got exhausted first since we played MW2 for hours, then when we finally reached final Gideon, we ran out of lives. lol
My first playthrough was on Supreme Master with my friend which we just finished a while ago. There are still a few achievements I need to earn, but for the most part I've seen what the game has to offer and love it.
What console did you guys get the game on? I have it for the 360.
On another note: Has anyone unlocked Mr.Chau?
Spoiler:
I hear running the first level over and over again until he appears on the map is the best way to do it, but I haven't had much luck so far.
Haha, definitely. I haven't seen all of the ending's yet, but Kim's is automatically my favorite.

I still haven't unlocked him, and I've done at least two whole playthroughs, (working on my third with Scott for two achievements. I heard that some people got him right away, and others, like myself, still haven't seen him. It kinda sucks that it's a completely random event.
BTW, does anyone know what happens when he appears? If their isn't music or something, I might have not even noticed him appearing. ><;
Love this game, crazy good music and some awesome gameplay. I randomly came across Mr Chau when playing as Kim to get Nega-Scott, the inclusion of him brought a big smile to my face, love it when developers add extra attention to detail.
Wondering if we'll get anything else with the Knives Chau DLC, suppose we'll wait and see.
I really want to get this game, but reluctant to spend the $10 or however much it is... just seems that almost everything on PSN and XBLA is overpriced... anyone agree?
I finally got Mr. Chau after grinding on one stage for awhile. So glad. It took awhile for Mrs. Chau to come up as well, but I got both. Now all I have to do is unlock Nega Scott and unleash Nega Knives and I got the achievement. :)
I've already unlocked everything except for Knives. Is she gonna be a DLC? Also, Kaimax, why didn't you and your buddies feed off on Todd Ingram? He's the easiest way to get lives.
"Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game will get its first downloadable content extension early next month, delivering two bonus game modes and a new playable character: Knives Chau.
The pack will be 160 Microsoft Points, or $1.99 on PlayStation Network, IGN reports. The two bonus game modes are Battle Royal and Dodgeball. Dodgeball involves hitting your opponent with a large beachball, by throwing it, kicking it, or running into it. It's the only way to do damage in this mode. Battle Royal functions a lot like the pro wrestling term; players are on a platform, off the platform are various useful weapons. Go off the platform for more than 10 seconds, though, and you lose.
Knives Chau, in the main game, is the support character for all the other players. So who's her support character? Her mom, who wears a trackie and bitches out the bad guys. Good goin' Mrs. Chau!"
I'll definitely be picking this up, especially with how cheap it is.
