I've found that alot of games have been thinking about multiplayer more than single recenitly (COD in the most, except zombies) and because of that, one side gets neglected or isn't as good as the other.
I know im not touching MW3 now(I might get a friends copy for a once though of the campaign) becuase of all the players mass-(host)migrating to new lands...
well for me as far as Multi-Player the only game i still play regularly is StarcraftBroodWar.. SC2 i played in single player had bitter taste at end and really didnt touch Multi.
I love story based games, but there is only so many times you can play through the story before you want more, thats where multiplayer comes into play.
Well now at days there are rarely any games that come packaged without multiplayer as a major aspect let alone any that are good with just single player(LA noire is exempt of course) so I would have to say the days of single player driven games are way over since the last years of the gamecube and ps2 as even campaign games are starting to have more and more multiplayer to my dismay as working with idiots is always to be a given. But multiplayer has always been great to say the least since CS,Sc,Tw,Wc3 ,sup com,etc and who can forget the omnipotent fps legends of halo and CoD sadly
I rather play with friends than play alone, yet games like Assassin's Creed, Fallout, or Portal are the epitomes of single-player of why I play single player since they involve the player so deeply, that the game affects your mood outside of the game itself! But I do hope that games will have both modes and both have exceptional features or a style that makes it original and fun.

I really enjoy a lot of single-player games. A lot of single-player games, like JRPGs, have a lot of in-depth storyline and more in-depth charaters than that of multi-player games. Multi-player games are based around the multi-player aspect, and very few go in-depth or do a good job with the character that you portray in the single-player aspect of the game.
But, I still find that a few games are really enjoyable with multi-player in it like 1v1 fighting games, or FPS.
Depends on my mood. I like both single and multiplayer games. There's a times when I want to enjoy the story, and also sometimes I just want to have fun with my friends.
I play more multiplayer based games because I always play with a group of friends. Although, sometimes that gets tiring and I like to relax with a single player game.
I play a mix of both, single player for the story, experience, challenge and of course, the TROPHIES! Games like Uncharted, DarkSiders, God of War, etc apply to me, though I need to expand my adventure tastes some more, but if there's trophies that require multiplayer requirements, such as playing in certain multiplayer aspects particularly in fighting games or FPS, I'd dedicate some time on multiplayer for the sake of it, my only problem is that some of these achievements take longer to attain than average due to the time consumed to get to the point and the randomness involved, like in Street Fighter, BlazBlue and Arcana Heart.
Single player because I have the shortest attention span in the world. I need to play different games or I get bored pretty quickly, especially after I've beaten the game.
Single player games for me. I just sit in party chat with my friend and converse while I play my single player games. If anything the only multiplayer game I can stand is Borderlands.
