Config files are already present in the mod package, this link above includes only the config files for those who don't want the mods.
The SkyrimPrefs.ini file uses my resolution and is set to "read only".
If you want different resolution settings you will have to right click the file, select properties and uncheck the "read-only" box under the general tab.
Then open the file and look for iSize H=1050 and iSize W=1680.
easy way to find these is to use hotkey "ctrl+f" it will open up a search window to type the term you are looking for.
Change the iSize H= (to your monitor height res) and iSize W= (monitor width res)
Then look for the term "sD3DDevice=" and type in the model of your card for example
sD3DDevice="NVIDIA Geforce GTX 275"
I also have my settings set to 4xAA and if you want to change that look for the term "iMultiSample=4" and change it to what you desire
After that check the read only box again so that the game will not overwrite the settings.
I compiled a bunch of mods into an easy extract, copy and paste pack.
It includes a bunch of better textures.
I only added in textures that didn't overly change the original art style.
I add new textures and normal maps for skin, snow, water, some shields, houses, fire, smoke, barrels, ground, whiterun, riften and much more.
I also added two config ini files which extend draw distance for trees and grass plus, added better water reflections and self shadows for trees.
It also might decrease stuttering.
If you don't like some of the textures you could always post a picture and I could tell you which file to delete to get rid of it.
Too much work to reupload the pack with different textures removed.
Below I added directions on installing and further below that are the authors of each mod.
To install the mods copy everything inside the "The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim" folder and paste everything inside your own game folder which contains the TESV.exe file.
It should ask you to merge the data folder and this should be allowed.
If it doesn't ask you to merge then you are probably doing something wrong.
Before playing the game use the "SkyrimgLauncher.exe" file
Once the launcher window is open select "data files" and make sure all the boxes are checked.
After that you can close the launcher and start the game with the "skyrim4gb.exe"
Using the original "TESV.exe" will have a high possibility of crashing the game after playing for an extended period of time.
In order to not experience crashes you must always use the "skyrim4gb.exe" file to start the game
This exe file allows SKyrim to use more than 2 gigs of RAM and without it the game will crash after 1.7gigs is consumed.
Starting this exe file should load up the game normally with Steam.
If the Skyrim 4GB exe (version 3) does not work then you will need to extract the older version (version 2) from the "Skyrim 4GB.exe" folder
Extract it to the game folder which contains the other version of the 4GB exe files so it overwrites them.
There is also a visual add on which can be disabled or enabled ingame by pressing the "Pause" button on the keyboard.
If you want better draw distances for grass and trees with better water reflections and slightly less possible stuttering
Then copy everything in the "Skyrim" folder from the extracted mods folder
And paste it into the Skyrim folder that is located in "Documents/My Games/Skyrim"
Beware that these config changes and texture mods
Will require good hardware to run the game smoothly.
If you want to play at a resoluion of 1680x1050 at max settings with atleast 4 samples and 16xAF
Then you need a setup that is similar or better to;
A good high end dual core that is around (can be slightly weaker) 3.2ghz or higher.
(Skyrim only fully utilizes 2 cores)
A video cards similar (can be slightly weaker) or better to a GTX 460 or 6850.
I use an OCed GTX 275 which is slightly weaker.
Make sure the VRAM is close to 1gig or better my card is cutting it with 896mb.
Around 3 gigs of RAM or better.
SKyrim will use almost 2 gigs of RAM on it's own after extended period of playing.
KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU CAN LOWER SETTINGS TO IMRPOVE PERFORMANCE THESE ARE JUST MY RECOMMENDATIONS AT VERY HIGH SETTINGS
