The game looks nice for being indie, I guess I'll give it that, but I don't think it's really scary. The atmosphere doesn't do it for me, and outside of that,(at least to me) it's just attempted jump scares, which I hate and don't work on me unless they're extremely well hidden, which they aren't here.
I kinda feel the same about Amnesia(which I still loved, though), but the atmosphere works a lot better with Amnesia because it's built up a bit, still doesn't scare me, but I do think it's really well done. As for the other times it tries to scare you, I look at most of what it does as mini natural disasters, which I'm not afraid of, really. And thanks to an LP of the game, I can't think of the creature as anything other than "Beard-mouth", and that kills any effect it may have had on me.
The major difference though, if you take Amnesia a bit serious like it's supposed to be, it can still manage to be a bit scary, and Slender can't, nor do I think it's intended to be taken seriously. But maybe I'm wrong and just have some extreme resistance/tolerance to or for horror.
The difference is that you can still hide in Amnesia, in Slender, you can just keep on running with no hope in the end.
