Depends what you want to play.
If you're looking for something along the lines of DotA I like Demigod.
Essential shooters, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, maybe FarCry2, UT3, F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R. 2, And I'm sure there are ones I'm missing.
Hmmm...Ah RTS, Red Alert 3, Stormrise, and again, I'm missing a lot there. Don't play many.
HAWX is a high recommendation, CoD 4 & WaW if you haven't played them for 360/PS3 are both good games.
That's all that I can think of for the moment. If I come up with any more I'll mention them.
Crysis isn't really anything good in my opinion, but I guess Warhead makes up for it; however, I only have the original Crysis, so I wouldn't know.
Far Cry 2 - Fun for explosions. DEFINITELY made for *casual* gamers (as in, you only have 2-3 hours a day to play). At first it seems interesting, but when you have to drive through the jungle/desert 55 billion times and get chased by gun trucks 55 billion times, it gets REALLY annoying, not to mention your enemies can hit you dead on with the mortar EVERY SINGLE TIME. There isn't much originality once you've hit the top of things to do, and the only real "new" things as the game goes on is new guns to play with.
UT3 I'd probably only suggest if you haven't played before, I own UT1, UT2003, and UT2004, and frankly with a glance at UT3 it doesn't seem like its bringing anything big enough for me to buy another one.
The FEAR games I'd probably get, good substance and horror there, though from what I see FEAR 2 is less on the horror and more on the killing.
RTS wise, if you're going for something CnC, probably Tiberium Wars. Red Alert 3 seems like... they're just milking the franchise.
HAWX is a terrific aerial combat game (probably the only one on PC), it impressed me when I played the demo, but I haven't bought it yet. CoD 4 is more of a "buy it just to say you have it" sort of thing to me, but the multiplayer is terrific from what I've heard.
If you're an RPG fan, I'd suggest TESIV: Oblivion if you like medieval sort of things and Fallout 3 for the rustic post-apocalypse setting. Fallout 3 seems to be an improved engine of Oblivion, but it seems to have more problems with crashes than Oblivion did...
Anyways, those are my 2 cents on the games Magicalgnome recommended. I hope you find something to occupy your time soon, Arizth; if you really didn't keep up with the past 2 years, you'll find a lot of stuff to play with. And if you've played Oblivion or Fallout 3, please do tell me what you think. XD
