As a young gamer, I grew up on the Sonic games for the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis in America) and I can say that those were AWESOME. Those games lead to me being a little bit of a Sonic game fan. Now to be honest, Sonic's latest games haven't been seen as the best titles out there. Let's hope that this is not the case with the new title called "Sonic Unleased" that's heading towards our console late 2008. The game seems to be a mixture of the old, 2D side-scrolling, fast paced action with some 3D parts thrown in there aswell.
So, anyone else going to keep there eye on this?
The only part that does confuse me is that for some reason, he can turn into a wearwolf(as seen below) to combat the new evil on this planet.
It doesn't look bad. Maybe a rental at best though. I hate how they keep adding stuff to sonic when it really doesn't need to be added. I enjoyed Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails. Adding much more then that is kinda overdoing it. (A couple of the add-ons are ok though.)
I would really like to see the sonic games go back to what made them great. So this game thats actually going back to high speed/2d side scroller seems to be a step in the right direction.
I bought the sonic mega collection for ps2, which had every old Sonic game on it, thought it would be fun. But I was kinda bored with it within 10 mins, used to love sonic too.

I loved that game. Someone stole it, but I used to get stoned and play Flicky for hours.
I'm going to be realistically optimistic about this. I haven't bought a Sonic game since Shadow and Sonic Heroes (not even Rush or Rush Adventure), but I heard from some reviewers that Secret Rings went in the right direction. Assuming this uses a similar, but improved, mechanic, it might actually be worth buying.
I stop buying at SA2B and as soon as I rent Sonic Heroes, that was the last new Sonic game I touched. Hopefully, this one won't disappointed since it's sticking to the old style of running with some 3D aspects into it. And I hope that new concept doesn't ruin this game.
I think they should release a new Sonic side-scroller. Not a greatest hits collection or an updated 3-d side-scroller or any of that bullshit. Just a brand new 2-d side-scroller. I don't get why game developers don't realize that everyone hates that they're taking games that were awesome in two dimensions and then adding a bunch of poorly thought out garbage and ruining the franchises. Rip-off characters like Shadow and whatever are made fun of but no one would hate a Sega Genesis Sonic game just because they palette swapped Sonic and made him "edgy". It's whoring the franchise out and making Sonic slow that ruined the series. Mario lent himself much better to adventure games.
I'm glad that they went back to the roots that made Sonic games memorable! 2D! I just hope that there are few 3D sequences or atleast if there are they should play smoothly. Just looking at the footage, the speed and the loops and spins alone bring back memories of when Sonic games were fun.
I'm not sure but i remember reading somewhere that this game has already been 2 years in development. I think it was in gamespot or something.
I just hope they can make a game that will live up to the Genesis games. Hmm... Its been 17 years since the original Sonic the Hedgehog game, right?
I really don't like any of the new games. After Shadow the Hedgehog, it looks like they just started trying to produce with writer's block. I'm a Sonic the Hedgehog fanatic, don't get me wrong, but I just don't like the new-gen games.
I was getting excited about this for a moment, then I was reminded that Sonic transforms into a werewolf-type creature. The action in the new trailer definitely looks good, but I can't help but think how things will change in werewolf mode.
Aparantly you get more "control" when your a wearwolf. What that means? I don't really know. It could mean maneuverability in the air or on the ground.
I love Sonic games, that is, up to Shadow the Hedgehog, then they began to really suck and best ones out their are still the original genisis titles. Sonic and the Secret Rings was okay, but it didn't feel like a Sonic game as you had very little control of what was going on. The trailer looks great and I'm getting it regaurdless, but I can't help but feel that Unleashed will be too much like SR. That being said, the side scolling segments look amlost flawless, and there was no break in Sonic's speed this time, so I can only hope.
Don't you think it's always weird no matter where he goes to a city or jungle or a space station there are all ways trampolines, grinding rails, and accelerators.

In the cities, the grind rails just tend to be regular rails. The trampolines and dashpads are still inexplicable, though.
At first, I wondered of all titles, why the word "unleashed"... Even after seeing all the trailers and screen I only realized just now the possible reason for using that word.
I am personally looking forward more to Sonic Chronicles, an RPG by BioWare. They have the RPG element mixed in perfectly with core Sonic gameplay. In addition to that, its BioWare, so you can count on a good story. In case any of you guys don't know any of BioWare's work, there's Jade Empire, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Mass Effect.
No trailer out yet for Sonic Chronicles that I know of though.
