Update 6:08 a.m.: More details have leaked via Famitsu. The game’s full title is Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness. It is set on the uncivilized planet of Feycreed, which is 6,000 light years away from Earth.
Currently revealed characters include:
Fedel Camus (voiced by Kaito Ishikawa) – The protagonist. He specializes at fencing, and protects the order of his village.
Miki Sorvesta (voiced by Nao Toyama) – The heroine. She is the protagonist’s childhood friend, and loves him like an older brother.
Lilia (voice actor unknown) – A girl who lost both her memories and emotions.
The magazine also has screenshots of a blonde swordsman and blue-haired witch participating in battle.
Battles are seamless and in real-time. Depending on the distance between you and the enemy, the way you attack changes, and pushing buttons consecutively will trigger combos.
In addition to traditional event scenes, there will also be “seamless events” such as those where enemies attack you. If the enemy apprehends your allies during these events, there will be branching outcomes.

I just got "The last Hope" in the mail from Gamefly. I enjoyed it the last time I played. 5 looks good, but from now on I'm renting before I decide to buy.

Really excited for this. SO3 is one of my favorite JRPGs and I've put a ton of time into it. I just hope they don't make the cast terrible again like in 4. The two characters announced are already generic as fuck but the gameplay is the main thing I care about.

Kinda wondering if the battle system they mentioned is just like ff12. Also to mention, this star ocean will be set between First departure and second evolution.

Anybody remember the glare in-game you get from the lighting and how ever now and then things would be looking so so shiny in The last hope? yeah I do and my god it annoyed the hell out of me. From the looks of it, it seems the fixed that problem to a great extent.

Only 30% means a good year or two off. So great they finally showed it but until we see more from it I will tone down my excitement.

Bad news everyone. Its now a ps4 exclusive in the west, all because sales of teh ps3 in teh west is "next to nothing". :C My god I wanna rip their heads off for that. I have no needs for a ps4 and just having gotten a ps3 (bought off a coworker) in anticipation of this game and several others on top of the want to play other titles. They said they wanted to make a star ocean game for the fans, now its more like they want to make a star ocean to boaster the sales of the ps4 is more like it.

There's still PERSONA 4 coming on PS3 so there's that to look forward to.

There's still PERSONA 4 coming on PS3 so there's that to look forward to.
nvr played persona, nvr caught my interest. only thing so far that is good coming for teh ps3 is zesteria, but doesn't fill the hole that sqaure ripped in me.
