I bought this game today. I got the "SUPER STREET FIGHTER 4 ARCADE EDITION" for 20USD at gamestop. I traded MVC3 for it and i only got 7USD trade in credit. I'd rather have street fighter 4 then MVC3. MVC3 was just collecting dust after the new one was released. I always liked street fighter but i never played it as much as i played mortal kombat. I already tried the whole cast and i can't get the hang of anybody.
My advice is to just find who you like playing with the most and stick with them. I started out as a cammy player and now, I main Cody&Chun
Do you use a stick or controller? I have a hard time with those charging moves like Chun-Li's spinning bird kick. When ever i try to she jumps up rather then doing the command.
Wolfkrone, one of the best players in the World plays on pad and plays on it well.
If you are just starting out on Street Fighter, most people say you should play Ryu or Cody because you learn fundamentals with those characters.
Don't forget Vangeif. He plays Zangeif on a pad and is on the same level as Wolfkhrone with the major performance difference coming down to character selection.
I advise against Cody as a starting character and suggest Ryu or Ken instead. I won't stop someone from picking up Cody though. His Pro's and Con's are below for those who are interested.
Pro's
+ Deadly firepower, can stun quickly.
+ Great normal anti-airs.
+ Far-reaching punish game.
+ Easy combos into damaging Ultra 1.
+ Projectiles have very fast recovery.
+ Incredible range and damage on his overhead attack.
+ Large amounts of frame advantage on all normal moves.
Con's
- Extremely limited options on wakeup and against pressure.
- Very slow walk speed.
- Short range on backdash.
- Projectile can't win fireball wars.
- Tough time chipping opponents safely.
