II mean Super Mario Galaxy was nice because it felt like a return to form, but I don't see how they are going to have the same charm in the second game without it feeling like a rehash of the first. I don't want Super Mario Galaxy 1.5. I'd rather spend my money on something else.
Technically, all Mario games are pretty much the same. You jump, you kill baddies, grab power-ups and reach the end of the level to win. That main formula hasn't changed that much.
As long as the levels offer something different (which is encouraging by watching the trailer), I'll be happy. The reason that this may feel like a rehash is because Nintendo is using the same engine for a Mario title for the first time in 23 years.
Also, don't put it past Nintendo to make a completely different game for this sequel. Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask and Metroid Prime 1/2 all used the same engine and graphics but they all played differently.
