Tales of Xillia 2 (Ohhhh boy...)

(I get the feeling the hate will NOT be pretty.......also Why the hell does every JRPG sequel title color suddenly have to go pink? What did someone threaten them at gunpoint? or did they not just think maybe tourquise-emerald green wasn't eye-catching enough?



........but I digress.)

So yeah......Tales of Xillia 2.

I look at this..., and I look at Xillia in general. It's basically for me one of those times in a franchises life where it's beginning to sputter a bit and yet seems it had a lot of potential

Graces (f) and even Vesperia had good Battle system (albeit difficult, but that was partially the charm of it.)

Xillia's Battle system was cool looking, there's definitely no denying that, but gameplay wise it just felt......odd, you know what I mean?

Maybe they really SHOULD've added more stuff or delay it so they can do so. Which again I really felt they should've done. I dunno how the say it,...."Bad timing" seems to come to mind.

and yet (wait for it.....or not) I actually think, even though it's right now screaming "FFXIII-2" vibes and then some, I actually want to LIKE this game.

The Cross Range Motion Ican'tremembertherestofthename battle system actually LOOKs both good AND really intriguing, Able to switch between dual-guns, Dual reverse-grip swords, and a bo-staff-hammer hybrid sort of weapon?

doesn't that sound the least bit cool?........anyone?

actually while I'm talking about this, let's bring up Devil May Cry for a bit. It seems that 2ch made this connection albeit negatively (haven't went on 4ch in a while so i dunno what's their opinion, prob isn't all that good.)


MC's hair is whitish, can swap between weapons mid-combat, and is (probably somehow) contracted to protect a little girl. (DMC anime if you don't get the connection.)

Utter Irony much?

Also (again despite the FFXIII-2 vibes) it seems that the cutscenes can now be decided depending on your actions and choices. Which COULD work if they were to add in multiple endings or really write a good if not, decent story.

I'm really hoping Namco Bandai knows what they're doing, especially after the Tales Of. Dev Team has disbanded. (I want to be optimistic about this....but there just seems to be a lot at stake which usually is NOT a good sign........

.....sigh I need a smoke.)

I saw the trailer for the combat and well... it wasn't that bad but the male MC, Rutger/Rudger looks somewhat bland... Not to mention he looks like a modern day police detective. There's also the fact he's using guns at such a short range.

Tales of Zero no Kiseki, day one. It was after platinuming Graces F that I realized the series needs a serious change in art direction, ToGF gave me nausea. I still want ToX in my veins but after that I'm through with shounen fantasy settings for life.

It's either a hit or a huge miss for this game. They should localize the first Xillia, though.

I don't know how I feel about this. They need to localize the first one before I can decide whether this is good news or not.

I haven't played the first title that much until now.. always have to look up stuff on the online walkthrough >.<
I'm waiting what gimmicks will be in the limited edition/first press edition first and decide then.

Best costume DLC ever that I probably won't buy since it's cost will be 600 yen per costume. Just like the Star Driver one.

Just from what I read of Xillia 1, mind that I didn't not read much at all, of this game. It already sounds really good. I try not to look up much of the game. I think I will like Xillia and I will probably like Xillia 2 also. If I remember right, Xillia 1 will be localized, but don't know when,

I thought Xillia 1 IS getting localized? I heard it would be coming to the PS3 sometime in 2013.

But whatever. I counted down the days for Graces F, bought it on day 1, and I don't regret it. I'll do the same for Xillia 1 and 2.

Tales of Xillia is suppose to come out in North America sometime in Spring 2013.

ahhhh, this is what it feels like to live in the stone age eh? (going through hardships and labor to find 1 then you hear next day...dude, there's 2)

Western release: August 19(US) and 22(EU).

Wow, the sequel will be here just after a year since TOX was released in the U.S. Amazing!

Been playing for a few hours and I can safely say Xillia 2 is head and shoulders above the first one. So good.

Agreed.
Almost done with my first playthrough.
Though I would have finished earlier, but that time was used to try to beat the boss of the Bad Ending.

I haven't had alot of time to play it over the past couple of days but I'm on Chapter 7 right now. I'm loving it so far and Ludger's probably my favorite Tales protag simply because of his gameplay. Being able to switch weapons mid-combo is amazing.

Finished the game. Much much better than Xillia 1.


Elle brought many feels to the table throughout the whole game.
