The closed beta is currently in it's first weekend of 5, until the open beta on April 18th, then the release at the end of April.
Has anyone else been playing? I pre-ordered the game, so have access to this and all upcoming closed betas(every other weekend)... thus, been playing it most of this weekend.
It's not bad. Not like most Korean MMOs requiring shit-tons of grinding, but more using the excuse of quests to get you to grind.
The most notable difference is the combat. You aim with cross-hairs in the center of the screen, and use abilities. There is no auto-attack, but every class gets a basic attack(swing sword(s) combo, shoot arrow, cast fireball. . .) which replenishes your mana used by your abilities.
So a lot more immersive, you actually have to aim your skills at mobs, and faster paced. Abilities have cooldowns, but fewer casttimes.
As far as looks go, it looks really bloody good imo, and not too power hungry so long as your computer is reasonably up to date.
I hear there are end game Raids, Battlegrounds, and World bosses, but I'm not sure as to how much there really is to encourage me to make it there... That's the very reason I dropped Aion.
Though still, there's enough variation in Tera to make me interested. A lot of good ideas from other MMOs smushed into this one, but in a way it looks and feels like Tera, not like 'MMO X' -- which I do like.
I only have a level 15 now, and 3 other classes at level 7. The cap is 26 in the closed beta, and like 50 in retail. So a long ways to go, and the world looks pretty big.
Sadly, I'll have to wait to continue my testing until CB #2. This one is almost over.
Being I pre-ordered, I do get to keep my characters up to the open beta.
