My reasons for PS3[u]
1) FREE online, seriously im not gonna hassle with paying 5 dollars seems like a waste, my parents (and me) pay enough for internet.
2) anyone ever heard of the inFamous.... well InFamous 2???
there's also the very highly anticipated Final fantasy versus 13 for PS3 only. the guy who made it, produced Kingdom hearts so Kingdom Hearts fans CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkZvdT3QS4k it has gameplay so don't worry. :)
Dark Souls (Demon Souls SEQUEL, YES A SEQUEL!!!) and finally 2009's game of the year's next in line... UNCHARTED MUTHA**** 3: Drake's Deception!!!! YEAH!
3) PS3's community is very nice, very few fights will happen unless you start complaining. then your just asking for it. it will usually end up with everyone getting a cookie. or end with you agreeing on staying silent. now this fact was done by Game Stop so don't blame me..... i quote "Xbox's community is very mean. it's community is full of racists, Christens that despise transsexual and Gays. they will make fun of any woman and say any demeaning comment about them such as a WHERES MY SANDWICH!? there also full of 9 year olds that have a Mic that will scream in your face. fighting is very common in any COD game or Halo game online. let alone i pay $5 for this! if you've heard a COD fight on Xbox 360 you know what im talking about"
but don't get it now. PS3's network is under maintenance. now before you start saying.. NOW YOU SAY IT!!??
Xbox has them more frequently so don't consider it a negative. Get one in a week or so
I never recommend consoles to people on the basis of a handful of games. Why pay a couple hundred dollars just to play a couple of games when you have little or no interest in the other games in the console's library? I prefer the 360's collection of games over the PS3's even though most of my friends felt otherwise and opted for Sony.
I seriously don't see what the fuss is over XBL's subscription fee. It's the finacial equivalent of buying a bottle of soda once every week and the service is way better, IMO. If you wanna know where all that money goes to, it pays for all of Micosoft's employees that review complaints, ban cheaters/modders/assholes, and make XBL a better online service as time goes on.
Sadly, the kid problem is more of a parental issue that can only be resolved by said parents and your friends over at Game Stop (almost ironic, isn't it?). Now, I've never ran into any anti-gay Christian racists, but the occasional loud mouthed idiot? Sure. However, there's a simple solution for such people, it's called the mute switch. To add to that, you can always file a complaint against annoying players and even set it up to avoid them in future matchups if you choose to do so.
As for what you said about XBL going under maintenance, that's a different matter altogether. Microsoft just likes to update XBL after so much time has gone by, but not nearly as frequently as you're making it sound. Hell, they even tell you ahead of time when said updates will take place so that it won't come as a nasty surprise later on. PSN, on the other hand, is suffering from either technical problems or is under the attack of hackers.
