There's.. quite a lot of stuff that I don't like about this game. First thing that comes to mind is the dealer himself. I understand what he's supposed to be, what he is in the game, but gosh darn, more than fifty times I verbally wished for him to shut up. He has these loooooooooooong lines that he say every time you reach a new floor, and you'll be reaching a lot of new floors, so after a while it ends up with him repeating the same long, tedious lines over and over again and you'd wish you could hit him in the face. I found a way of shutting him up through the settings menu as I was nearing the end of the game, but that was no where near satisfying.
One of the dealer's worst lines is one where he spites the player for escapism; he spites you for playing the game. He also has this line where he says "I've made that too powerful; I'd have to rebalance that next time". I mean, (1) You won't, (2) way to break the game's theme. Maybe it's just me, but in a medieval game with bloodshed and magic, that sounds too out of place.
And speaking of magic, the game's mages look dumb. You'll know when you see them.
Another thing I didn't like was the models in the game. They look.. cartoonish in my opinion. Also when you land a killing blow to an enemy, they'll just tip over and immediately go into ragdoll mode, more often than not resulting in a ridiculous pose.
Also, your character cannot turn around in place. I.E. every time you need to turn around, your character would have to run in an arc before you could face where you want to. This is more terrible than it sounds, because you'll have to dodge roll a lot in this game. And in this game, you character will face whatever direction you rolled into. What do you do after a dodge roll? You run back to the enemy to hit their face. But, because you're facing the opposite direction and you can't turn around in place, you'd have to run around in a circle, wasting time, setting off a myriad of traps in the process before you can actually return to hitting the bad guy.
Oh, and the camera controls. The lack of them. You'll need them, but no, you'll have to make do with the camera angle the game decides to throw at you. You can't lock the camera into enemies either, and this gets very annoying.
I like the game's idea, it's mechanics, how it plays. Even though I hate games that rely heavily on randomness and chance. But it really could have been executed better.
I understand it's not easy making a 3D game, or even just any game, but I can't help but think that this game would've been better if Defiant games made it into a Top-Down 2D game instead. It might have saved time and resources for them as well.
