I really think that, if they were to announce the iOS port/remake nonchalantly and out of the blue, it would have been tolerable, but because they made a big fuss about it and hyped it up to be something the fans of the original would want, it got a ton of backlash. You just don't hype up something like it's going to be a sequel (at best) or at the very least something
new just to turn the other way and give us a port to iOS.
Granted, the enhancements (HD art/graphics, new music, remixed tracks, revamped gameplay, etc.) all sound interesting, if not good, but because I was hoping--and at some points even expecting--a full blown sequel for the 3DS, I can't help but feel like this entire countdown fiasco was just a big "F you" from Square to the long-time fans of the original.
Especially after having seen the cast in 3D graphics in Kingdom Hearts.
