Shooter fans deserve more. And those who haven’t discovered the pleasure of twin stick destruction deserve an entry point. Introducing Waves, a twin stick shooter that can be played by anyone, but with a high enough skill threshold to keep even the most hardened shooter fan entertained.
Waves has been built from the ground up to be accessible, yet require mountains of skill to master. It cuts away the fluff and boils everything down to what’s really important: Highscores.
The goal is to clear the arena of enemies while racking up a big fat Combo with swift kills and well timed Bombs and if it all gets a bit too much you can use your Time Buffer to slow down the action and turn defeat into victory. Players can compete across five different game modes with online high-score tables and Achievements in their pursuit of perfection.
I love this game enough to introduce it to other people. It's mind numbingly addictive once you get into it and try to get past your scores. Soundtrack is great, downside is it gets repetitive after hours of playing. I admit, not as difficult as the Touhou games, but the many creative ways to getting higher scores keeps the replay value high in comparison to the Touhou bullet-hells.
If you want to compare scores on steam add me! "Niipa"
On a side note there's a sale on waves for 70% off.
So 'Time Buffer' is a panic button that has no effect on score at all?
Time Buffer is a gauge for how much "Slow-mode" you have. Killing things in slow-mode nets you x2 points compared to killing them normally.
The more multipliers u can get going for a kill, the more points.
Ex: There are 100 enemies on the field. Slow-mode (x2) -> point blank (x2) -> bomb (x100 because there are 100 enemies) and each enemy gives a certain number of points calculated by that multiplier.
