My response is a little odd, but:
Prince of Persia for the PS2, the original reboot of the franchise that came out soooo many years ago
I heard only good things about it. I think it was even nominated for game of the year on X-Play or something. So, when I was looking around a Gamespot a few years later and saw it for cheap, I decided to get it. I played it for a few hours and got tired of it. I haven't even tried to play it again.
It was nothing but "Look at the room, then do very specific things to get across the room," with a few moments of horrible fighting thrown in. I like to be able to do what I want in a game, not be pigeon-holed and forced to play Simon Sez every time I enter a new room. "Oh, so I jump on this bar and then swing over here. What if I go this way-Oh, I died." The stupid turn-back-time feature is only there because they know the player will die a thousand times while trying to figure out what precise things they need to do to get from one end of the room to another.
I might forgive the game for doing that, but
that's every single room in the game. In every room, you do the same shit, just in a different way. Horrible. At least I didn't pay a lot for it.
Yeah, Sands of Time was a little stiff, but without it, Warrior Within, and Two Thrones whouldn't have been nearly as epic
