Have they fixed that distance problem at least, where the enemies can still hit you even if your too far away? I would say try the online with the game, but if you don't know anyone else with the game it won't be anything special. Good thing I steered clear of that game even if sounded good on paper.
I agree that the story was utterly weak and I felt cheated when my hand made character was brushed aside and given no part in the story. For White Knight Chronicles the emphasize is mainly the Geonet or online mode believe it or not. White Knight Chronicles made the mistake though of keeping Geonet and the story mode very strictly separate, so when players beat the story they found no reason to continue onward and if they did try Geonet and raising their guild level, it was horribly annoying to many.
Also hype might have been the killer of this game. Level 5 is the producer and the company has made splendid RRG's such as Dark Cloud 2 and Rouge Galaxy which had vivid story lines and plenty of side quest and stuff to commit to. So when White Knight Chronicles came out with a lackluster story and nothing else it squashed many RPGers hopes.
A game that does get this formula right though is Monster Hunter, which is uncannily similar to White Knight Chronicles, minus the turn based fighting and minus the story. It actually works fairly well too as I remember a statistic where 1 in 4 people in Japan have some sort of copy of Monster Hunter.
One thing to keep in mind though is that Level 5 is making a sequel of White Knight Chronicles revamped with a new fighting system, but you'll have to have beat the first one to play the second. Luckily they are giving the sequel with the first and it'll sport the new battle system as well, the poor story though will stay the same.
WKC2 released today, so time for epic bump. I didn't play the first one as the feedbacks were pretty bad but I might consider buying this one cuz the online looks cool. Who'se getting this?
Well the story ends rather unexpectedly in WKC1 so, no wonder there would be a sequel.
As for online.....well the game's turn based gamestyle is kinda boring, can't play it for longer than 2 hours.
If they improve the battle system, the game would have no flaws *aside from being your typical generic RPG with (your princess is in another castle) story*
I never played White Knight Chronicles before. But this new one looks pretty interesting, I know that there's a new PSP version of the game as well. I think I'll download it and give it a try. If I like it, I'll buy the US version.
Watched that random gameplay vid and from the comments, it looks like this game is way better than the first one.
On a side note, the EU version of this game is out but americans will have to wait until August 2nd.
The only improvement i see from that video is that the action bar fills twice as fast now *at least in knight mode* other than that.....it's completely the same, they even left the *random party talk* untouched
So I recently completed the first half of the game, and I must say I was disappointed with the ending of the game, I felt that it had came too soon.It also left with a cliffhanger that was I felt was upsetting.
I looked ahead into the sequel and apparently, nothing is improved and players new to the game are tossed into the game with nary an explanation.
So what do you guys think of the game ending?
And I apologize in advance for bringing up this dead topic, but I don't really want to make a new topic concerning this.
