okay I'm a big fan of MMOs and I've been curious of WoW. Can anyone recommend it to me? I mean will it last? 'cause I've played a lot of MMOs and when you get to the max lvl there isn't much to do. Also is it though to lvl up?
It's entertaining to level up, grind and all that stuff, but WoW basically "starts" when you reach max level. There are alot of things you can do and when it gets repetitive it won't feel like a pain, hence it can get pretty addictive. I've played it since patch 1.8 and quit at the end of WotLK. It was a fun experience, joined several good guilds, raided much everything there was until patch 3.3.5, but I ultimately got bored. There are, however, people that played it since day 1, and are still playing it now without having gotten bored at all.
Content is being updated steadily and constantly, and there is still plenty more for several future expansions. Bottom line, it's currently the best MMO on the market. Just be sure not to get too addicted. Use moderation.
Seeing as Cata's out now, it'll last for awhile. Also, depends on how you enjoy the game. Do you like to just grind all the way to end-game content, or do you enjoy the lore and role-playing? For me, it's fun leveling all the way to 85, but once you hit that barrier and focus on raiding and such, it can get a bit aggravating at times, with gear score getting in the way of actually having fun, with so many supah-srs players and all that jazz.
WoW lasts forever, and there's always a shitload of things to do, it's definitely one game where you get your money's worth.
The soundtrack is epic too as mentioned.
There's a reason why people have been following, and keept paying to play it, for the last six year, it's that damn good of a game, no matter what teh usual generic haters say.
Not much weight to their words either as the game and all the expansions are critically acclaimed.
It never gets old imo. it's worth the money. and if you think youll go for a month without play just pay for the cards. I got the cata collectors and it's awesome. In an odd attempt to link this to this site have any of you cata players noticed that throne of tides looks like a uterus. XD
World of Warcraft never gets boring! At least for me.
My brother got me into it. I started playing it in mid Burning Crusade.
I love the music, lore, quests/leveling, and the people. (On the Horde side at least)
I don't play many games. In fact, the last game I played other than WoW was Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. And before that it was Fatal Frame on Xbox. It just has a way of pulling you into it.
There's so many classes to pick from too. Mage, Warlock, Paladin, Warrior, Death Knight, and so on. Pick one that suits your style. Me, I have a 82 Paladin at the moment. (Taking my time leveling so I can take in the lore.)
And I'm working on a Mage too.
You should give it a shot. Remember, its not a game, its a world.
Just listen to this epic track and imagine yourself adventuring in an vibrant world full of life and awesomness.
If that doesn't get you hooked then i don't know what will.
Make sure you eat and take breaks in between hours of gameplay. I know people who has fainted due to lack of nutrition and sleep from playing too much.
WoW lasts as long as your willing to pay. I played it for the free month that came with, it was fun and all but i dident find it did anything actualy new after playing like every free mmo out there its all done well and has almost everything, if ur willing to shell out the money its a good game. Im waitin for Guild wars 2 tho
There's no need to hate a game, or the people who like and play it or go to festivals etc, just because some crackheads get confused and mistake the virtual life for the real one.
WoW is the best MMO
although i find MMO game play VERY BORING. What i like about WoW
-customization
-party activities are fun
-map size
-races
-not all starting from the same place/doing the same thing.
Although it is just grinding/questing until level 85 (as it now stands).
I played WoW for a good couple of years. If you play by yourself, then it boils down to Grinding and Questing. If you join a guild, battle in PvP or even if you have a couple of Friends you know who play it, then it'll be a lot more enjoyable.
A good guild will help you when you reach Max Level to run through Instances and PvP for better Gear (again, at MAX Level). At lower levels it gives a good form of communication/entertainment during Travel Times, and there is a LOT of Travel in this game. And hell, if they're nice you could get some free stuff and lots of help and gold and such.
But yes, if you're going to play WoW, make some Friends, join a Guild. It's a Multiplayer game for a reason. (And you're not going to be able to do any Instances solo, and that's where all the good stuff is)
If you are into crappy graphics, and a very low learning curve play WoW
If you are into a cliff of a learning curve, the ability to do whatever the hell you want, great graphics, and an infinite amount of things to do at any time play EVE
