I thought quarks would be more advanced...
I don't really think so, as we can already harness quarks, and might be possible to use them in reaction within the century, but we have nearly no knowledge on anti-matter except for the fact that the collision of matter and anti-matter is very destructive and releases a very large amount of energy due to the negation properties associated with positive and negative energies.
It is so destructive, in fact, that one single reaction of uncontrolled anti-matter collision with matter could destroy the entire Earth.
I know that this is off topic, but could you find me the struggle you read on that? I'm not doubting you I'm just interested in reading it.
I'm sure you mean article, not struggle, so here's some stuff on it.
NASA funded Antimatter Positron Engine for space exploration article:
http://www.nasa.gov/exploration/home/antimatter_spaceship.html
Matter-Antimatter Power article:
http://space.about.com/od/Space-and-Astronomy-Star-Trek/a/Matter-Antimatter-Power.htm
And a video on Antimatter:
http://videos.howstuffworks.com/howstuffworks/4671-could-antimatter-destroy-the-earth-video.htm
And I don't find this off topic, I find it very on topic, as it would indicate what would be the power source for the ship we were on.
Edit: I found stuff on it, as most of the things I've learned on antimatter came from my physics classes in college.
Later Edit: Most of the stuff on matter-antimatter power relate to Star Trek, where it was first thought of, but it is also used in games like Deus Ex, Mass Effect, and Halo.
