This was definitely not how Jacob Grady envisioned spending the night of his Christmas Eve.
He was ready to fly back to America after successfully purchasing a premium, once-in-a-lifetime horse head from Akihabara. He originally planned on just spending Christmas quietly at home, but once he heard about this legendary horse head from Nikon, he had to get it.
However, flying back to his home country was going to be really difficult without what he lost.
His passport. FAKKU.
Oops. Let's try that again. FUCK.
He knew he had it at least up to the airport because he double-checked before getting off the shuttle bus. But somewhere along the line...while he was handing out rare doujinshi dressed-up as Santa Claus, or sharing a quick cup of coffee with the director of noitaminA, or discussing the plot of the next mega popular visual novel with the head of Type Moon, he lost his passport.
Yes, he did all of that at the airport. He knew it would be like that, so he arrived eight hours prior to his flight. He was Jacob Fakku Grady, and his life was awesome. He wouldn't trade it for anything.
...Except maybe his damn passport right now.
He had checked all three locations that he had been at and couldn't find it. His last hope was the lost and found, but having never gone there before, he had no idea where it was. Jacob looked around for a security officer, but there was not one to be found in the area.
He still had plenty of time, as he had already checked in his luggage hours ago, and his flight was still two hours from takeoff. That said, the sooner he found it, the better.
He noticed a cute, young girl walking around with a box of cookies. Thinking he might as well start somewhere, he walked up to the girl and asked her where if she knew where the lost and found was.
She looked up at him. “You buy cookie?”
Jacob was a bit surprised, but replied 'no'. He didn't have time for this.
She looked down, crestfallen. “You no buy cookie...”
Jacob sighed. If he didn't have time for a cute, obviously moe girl like this, who on earth did?
Jacob put on a winning smile and said he'd take one. The girl instantly beamed, and handed him a cookie and took 100 yen in return.
She jumped up and down a few times in happiness, then went on her tippy-toes and kissed him once on the cheek.
Jacob jumped back in surprise, but the girl quickly ran off. Jacob realized he wasted a few minutes during the encounter, but hey, it was Christmas Eve, and that box of cookies looked almost full. He figured he was participating in the season of giving.
He took a long sigh, as he still had no idea where the lost and found was. As he looked for another person to ask, the cookie girl shouted at him, “Lost and found is that way!”
She was pointing in the direction he was walking in. Elated, Jacob waved back at her and she smiled at him before running off.
Feeling really good now, Jacob tried the cookie. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible.
As Jacob walked along, he noticed a plethora of cosplayers. They were all from recent anime. He saw characters from angel beats, amagami ss, biribiri and...Darth Vader? A really good Darth Vader no less. With a santa hat to match the season?
Jacob stopped. He had to get a picture with this guy. He walked over and introduced himself. “Hi, my name is Jacob Grady. I run a small site. Can I take a picture with you? I want to show other people how good your cosplay is.
Darth Vader looked down at him. They stared at each other for a few seconds, before Vader finally spoke. “The force is not with you...but the FAKKU is.”
Jacob was stunned. This guy knew about FAKKU?!
Jacob got several pictures and walked off. Losing his passport was almost tolerable now. That was one good cosplay.
After walking for five more minutes, Jacob finally saw the lost and found. He hurried over and asked them if anyone had turned in a passport.
The lost and found officer shook his head. Not a single passport had been turned in, which was actually a rarity considering the season.
Jacob walked out of the lost and found, stunned. It never occurred to him that the lost and found wouldn't have his passport. With less than one hundred minutes before his flight and completely out of options, Jacob fell to his knees and prayed. He prayed to God, to Jesus, to any higher being out there to please, help him find his passport.
“...ADY-SAN!”
Jacob looked up. Was somebody calling him?
“Jacob-San! Jacob Grady-San!”
A girl was screaming his name while running through the airport. Jacob knew he was popular, but this was ridiculous. He yelled at her, and she turned towards him. She looked down at something she was holding, then looked at him again. She then put on a magnificent smile and ran over to him.
As she tried to catch her breath, Jacob couldn't help but notice that she had brown, shoulder-length hair that had a yellow ribbon in it with bows tied off at the ends. She was wearing a blue and white serafuku with a red armband on her left arm.
As her breathing became normal, Jacob asked how could he help her. She smiled brightly as she handed him his passport. Jacob was stunned. His prayers were answered!
The girl then ran off with the smile still on her face, not expecting anything in return.
Jacob just sat there for a few minutes, taking it all in. Truly...truly it was Christmas. God answered his prayers this day. Jacob laughed. She really did.
