Dimension (working title)

This is a beginning of a story im writing, and its about the world we live in having another dimension thats in black and white. There are guardians of these, that somehow have the ability to see through the 2 dimensions at the same time. They guard them, preventing them from colliding and being destroyed. The story centers around Valerie, a girl that wasnt born from the guardians, but miraculously has the ability as well. There are those, though, that want to end these dimensions, and will stop at nothing to achieve that....but anyway, this beginning doesnt explain much. And its kind of boring...so im useless. ^(>.<)^
Prologue
“Valerie!” a voice called “Time to wake up!” Valerie woke up with a start and squinted as the light of the sun shone into her eyes. Quickly, she got off her bed, changed, and went downstairs to answer her mom’s calls. Entering the kitchen, she could smell the delicious breakfast that her mother had made.
“Hey mom, breakfast smells really nice” she told her mom as she sat down to begin eating.
“Thanks sweetie. Now hurry up or you’ll be late for school.” Her mother replied and Valerie ate the delicious food. When she was done, she grabbed her bag and left the house for another day of school. Valerie made her way slowly, the same as every single day. She was always wondering if something new might happen on her walk, but it seemed that today would be just like any day. The trees were the same, the houses, and even the sky was the same,
†˜Maybe something will happen at school’ she sighed as she arrived. As usual, there was barely anyone here. None of her friends ever came as early as her, but she liked it this way. She would be able to take time and think about what she would do on that day. Time flew by, and one of her friends, Leanne, arrived. Leanne quickly began walking towards her, smiling happily. Right before she arrived, something dark flickered behind Leanne. †˜Wha-? What was that?’ Valerie thought when she saw the odd event. In the end, she thought of it as her eyes playing tricks on her, and dismissed the happening. “Hey Leanne” Val said as she got up.
“Valerie! Guess what? I’m going to Florida!” Leanne said excitedly. “My parents decided after I showed them my report card! I’m so happy!” Valerie was happy for her friend, but no at all envious. She had been to Florida before, many times.
“That’s great, hope you have fun!” Val answered as the bell rang. Leanne turned and…there it was again. That grey shadow of things behind Leanne. Was Valerie seeing things? Maybe her eyes were tired today. Like before, she dismissed it and proceeded hastily to her locker. As quick as a sudden wind she had her things in her hand, as usual. When she walked towards the classroom, she suddenly became very dizzy, and then…she gasped. The room had turned black and white. It wasn’t even like the classroom. The desks were gone, there were plants everywhere, and the walls seemed as though they had been walked on. She faltered and began to move back slowly, when unexpectedly a dog-like creature appeared right before her eyes. It growled, and when it saw her, it pounced. Val jumped back in surprise and then, everything went black.
And thats it. Critize it all you want cause even Im doing it. :D
