Does everyone have what it takes to become a author?

Through out my life i have met a lot of people that have told me they are writing a book. i would tell them that that's great. but then when i would ask them a few months later how its going they would say something like, oh i gave up on that a while ago, or, i was just bored at the time i never intended to have it published or anything. This really bugs me because I am very serious about my writing and about getting published and having my story brought to the world. i have been writing for 6 years i have already written enough material to create 2 whole books. However, I don't believe that they were good enough to send out to the world, so i rewrite them. I am on the fourth re write of my main novel and the good news is that with each re write it becomes ten times better than before. i guess you could say that i have been increase my experience with writing by doing it. i feel that soon after all my hard work i will have a story worthy of showing the world. Now my question is this, knowing how serious i am and how hard i work on my writing, do you think that all these people who say they are writing a book but never really commit themselves to it ever have a chance at becoming a recognized author. And if they do, do they deserve to be one after they just were bored one day and threw something out of there ass not really caring?

I believe that writing can be considered to be very fad-like in that stage. People either had an experience reading a good book and wish to write one, or just believe they have good ideas. I wouldn't call these people amateurs or consider them worthless as I believe writing is good for everyone. However, if you believe people have gotten far by writing when they they didn't do work to deserve it, remember that this world doesn't operate like that. People are required to go to certain lengths to get what they want, even the people who seem to have gotten it so easily. Another reason people write is later in life, people want to leave behind something bigger than themselves. You can learn and be educated, but you will return to the earth, so your knowledge is temporary but a book can outlive you. Either way, there are also many hurdles to go through to actually write a book to completion and make it proper, as you well know. It takes a lot more than people are willing to go through with.

I wish you good luck and if you ever need advice or suggestions, this section houses some of the most respectable writers I know. Probably because I don't know a lot personally.

ive read so many books so i thought it would be easy to write on yourself, but ive come across many problems like youve said in your 1st post xD
Rewriting is one of the best things you can do for a book as it allows you to view what youve written and see what may need to be improved xd
myslef i am writing at the moment but ive only done about a chapter or so xd i know it needs improvments but im gona keep going xd
i advise that you keep making this book/s of yours more and more awesome until you think its perfect and once you do get it published :p tell me and ill look it up somewhere xD

I've never dreamed of being a professional novelist with royalty checks and a published series. It always seems too distant and too good to be true. I still have a long way to go if I ever was serious about it though. Who knows though, maybe this script I'm working on can take me far. Or maybe it will be the next one. Or the one after that.

That and my ideas aren't long enough for a novel. Short stories perhaps, but not novels. I've always been obsessed with getting one particular scene right, setting it up and resolving it later and without a single care in the world.

The process of constant rewriting is actually quite counter productive if you want to get things published really. Editing is never truly finished and there has to be a point where you have to stop or you'll be trapped in this vicious cycle forever.

In my opinion, there are natural geniuses in this world who can write whatever the hell they want and they sometimes strike gold. These people are awesome. Then, there are people who have no natural talent and work their asses off day and night to make the perfect story, eventually striking gold. These people are also awesome. Finally, there are natural geniuses in this world, who work their asses off day and night to make the perfect story. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO GO DOWN IN HISTORY.

P.S. Ever heard of NaNoWriMo? The whole point of NaNoWriMo is that they believe everyone has at least one good novel in them, and that writing is fun.

Not everyone has what it takes to become an author, in fact, I would estimate that at least over 90% of the people that do try end up failing. Not everyone can be an author, not everyone can be an artist and not everyone can be the president of the United States, but we all have our own unique talents and abilities which makes each person just as special as the next.

You have been writing for awhile now so Im sure you're educated in all this stuff but uhh I thought this section was for stories.....I thought I just read a tiny story lol~e_e
