John's Three Original Writings

In a creative writing class I was in, I wrote this pseudo-experience and once people have heard me read it, they've considered it to be their most favorite original work of mine. I say it's a "pseudo-experience" because I have never taken the drug, but this is my vision of what I would probably see if I ever did take it (which would possibly never happen).

This is the first of three original works of mine that I will share with you guys. This one is titled LSD:

Picture this:

You have been asleep for a long time now, recently waking up to see everything in red. Sounds strange, doesn't it?

There is a sudden change to orange. You are starting to become concerned about seeing everything in one particular color, and why it's changing in a matter of seconds to minutes, yet, you are enjoying it as much as you can...

There is a sudden change to yellow. You start seeing a black spiral, and you start reaching out for it with both hands...

There is a sudden change to green. The spiral starts to dissipate when you see a figure walk into the room with a device in his/her hand. The figure is looking a little transparent from your view. Your vision stays at green for a while, that is until the figure shoots the device into your arm...

There is a sudden change to red once again. This is what resembles anger to the figure...

There is a sudden change to blue. You dealt with the pain, which felt sharp. You are now calm. Plus, the figure is out of the room for now...

There is a sudden change to purple. You have had this so-called "change" for nearly 10 minutes now. You then see a poster of a bear in a uniform similar to the figure's uniform. What does the bear do? It comes out of the poster with a device known as a stethoscope with needles on the sides. Is that the sharp device that had been shot into your left arm? Needles? Of course it is, and you just now realize it...

There is a sudden change to gray. It reminds you a lot about 50's or 60's movies because of the colorless vision, but this is actually the state of depression. It might have something to do with the needles...

There is a sudden change to teal/cyan. You now feel comfortable with all of this going on, and you have the urge to meditate...

There is a sudden change to white. The state of melancholy is over, you feel safe and happy inside, but, yet again, you feel like you have nothing else to do. For a split second, you blink you eyes repeatedly...

Then, all of the colors you saw for the past 15-20 minutes start to come together to unite as one. You are starting to get excited more and more by the second when you see another black spiral growing out of the white illumination in the center. The voices inside your head are telling you to "snap out of it". Is it the figure? Is it the bear with the stethoscope? As the black spiral continues to grow, you start to gain a mixture of emotions. You are still excited, but you are worried as well. What are those voices? Who's there? Who's there? And then...

There is a sudden change to black. The excitement is now over. Right before you know it, everything returns to normal...

What were those voices? Not the figure, not the bear in the poster, but your mom and dad. The figure is a nurse. Then you noticed patches with abstract logos on them on a small table to your left, along with needles...

This is what you pictured:

You were being a hospital patient in a hospital bed on an experience that lasted 30 minutes...

An LSD experience.


Here's another one that I have thought up at pure random. I had an idea one day of what it would be like to communicate with a trustworthy mystic inside of my own subconscious.

This is the second of three original works of mine that I will share with you guys. This one is titled Subconscious:

There he was with his legs criss-crossed. The Great Mystic was a spiritual thinker ever since birth, and he carried a prophecy that he only knew. I entered a room of eternal belief. Nothing but a levitating circular platform. It was levitating above an abyss that I have considered to be a danger. Shortly after I entered, he saw me...

"Welcome!"

With that mighty voice, a bridge had been built to guide me to the circle where he sat. Before I knew it, I was walking to the edge of the holy convex. I was then there, and I sat, like i'm about ready to start a meditation process. The only reason he called me in was to tell me his secret prophecy because he trusted me. He trusted me to the core of his soul...

He said to me, "You're probably wondering why I called you here." I replied with a basic, "Yes. This prophecy that you were talking about." His prophecy was quite short. This is what he said...

"I am just an illusion in your mind, so believe what I believe and you will be okay."

The platform then started to break into fragments. The fragments then started to nullify into the nothingness below me. So did I...

I am back into the real world again, believing what the Great Mystic told me. You may think it was a dream, but I like to refer to it as an example of a journey inside the subconscious.


This last one has a little bit of comedic relief (and is my only funny one). That is the reason why I save it for last. I think you'll enjoy this one.

This is the last of the three original works of mine that I will share with you guys. This one is titled The Time I Saw A Genie:

The Time I Saw A Genie


I was walking around the school, searching for the strangest of phenomenon. I was walking, and I didn't start too long ago. Maybe 5-7 minutes ago. I don't know exactly. Before I knew it, I was in the courtyard. Then I saw something...

It wasn't any phenomenon, but it was something strange. It was a golden lamp...

Then I said, "Oh, no, no, no, no. This is a joke. I know it is." I guess I was curious at this point because I picked it up and started looking at it right away. I looked at it carefully...

Then I saw the obvious "Made in China" line on the bottom. I was like "Aww." So I decided to toss it on the ground behind me and walk away, you know, because it looked like something you could get for 50 cents at your local Dollar General to begin with. I was beginning to walk away, but something was happening whenever the lamp hit the concrete...

Blue smoke was coming out of the lamp. Then I said, "Oh, Jesus." After that, I saw the silhouette of this huge figure. Then it said, "I am the great genie! Named Bob." Okay...

As soon as the smoke cleared, I saw a genie, which made me say, "Unbelievable." He knew he had to give three wishes, like any other genie. I wanted to test him, though...

I immediately said, "I wish I had a pencil." A moment later, he said, "Open the palm of your right hand." There was a No. 2 pencil right there! I couldn't believe it. My guess was if I wished for anything, he wouldn't clap his hands twice or say some magic spell.It would be right there once I wished for it. Greatest genie ever!

Time for my second wish. "I have always wanted a Magic 8-Ball. I wish I had a Magic 8-Ball, Mr. Bob the genie", I said. What do I see right beside me? A Magic 8-Ball! I still couldn't believe it...

Now for my third wish. "And now, I wish for three more wishes", I said. He was in temporary shock, but then he said, "Three more wishes?!? I guess I can grant that..." You think I got three more wishes, don't you? I got that at first, but I also got two fairy-like guys in police officer uniforms...

Unfortunately, they conceal any genie away in a huge lamp known as "Jail" if they break the "Three more wishes" law, and Bob the great genie happened to break that law just now. He was immediately sucked right into Jail and he would forever be concealed inside there. The first lamp was also taken...

I was standing there alone with a pencil, a Magic 8-Ball, and three more wishes that weren't going to work...

I wanted to say it anyway. I said "I wish the genie would come back!" three times, and I knew that wasn't going to work...

I was bored, so I took the Magic 8-Ball and said, "Will the genie come back?" and shook it. It said "Don't count on it." Well, it's just you and me now, pencil...

With my pencil, I decided to mark down on the concrete, "I was here. P.S. - I saw a genie!" I walked back into the school after that to continue searching for strange phenomenon...

The point is this. If you ever see a genie, don't wish for three more wishes as your last wish. You never know what's going to happen.

Not bad, as far as the surrealism of your imagery goes, but I would suggest using a bit more variation in your wording. I counted ten usages of the phrase 'sudden change.' If you were to use other ways to describe the shifts in color, it would likely enhance the other-worldly quality of the work.

Still, good job and keep writing.
